Gabriel Ynoa

FRESNO 10, LAS VEGAS 1

After an off day on Thursday, the Las Vegas 51’s were back in action on Friday as they took on the Fresno Grizzlies.  Fresno pounded on the 51’s defeating them 10-1.  Darin Gorski started the game for the 51’s and would suffer his first loss at the Triple-A level this season.  Gorski went five innings giving up four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.  After pitching well in Double-A which ultimately led to his promotion to Las Vegas, Gorski has had a difficult job adjusting to life in the PCL.  Not much offense at all to speak of as Las Vegas would only record three hits the entire game.  Saturday is the third game of the series between both teams.  Las Vegas is sending out Joel Carreno to try and help stop the bleeding.  (box score)

NEW BRITAIN 6, BINGHAMTON 3

Matthew Bowman lost his fourth of the season, and the Binghamton Mets lost their third in a row on Friday, as the New Britain Rock Cats defeat the Mets 6-3.  Bowman, who hasn’t won a game since April, had seven strikeouts in 5.1 innings, but it would be the four runs he allowed that would do him in.  Matt Clark would hit his ninth home run for Binghamton, which would be his first in more than nine games.  It was the only extra base hit the Mets would have in the contest.  Darrell Ceciliani would add the other two runs in the game bringing his season RBI total to 23.  The second game of the three game series between these two teams at NYSEG Stadium is scheduled for Saturday with Greg Peavey on the mound.  (box score)

ST. LUCIE 5, DUNEDIN 0

Gabriel Ynoa won his third straight on Friday with a masterful outing against Dunedin.  Ynoa through seven scoreless ,recorded a season high 11 strikeouts, and didn’t allow a run in a start the first time this season, enroute to his sixth win.  The Blue Jays were only able to get four hits off Ynoa and would end up with only six total.  Albert Cordero would hit his first home run of the season, and Jairo Perez would go 2-for-5 with an RBI in the win.  St. Lucie didn’t need to pour it on offensively thanks to their pitching staff, but would still enjoy some success when they needed it, although they left many on the bases throughout the game.  St. Lucie and Dunedin square off again on Saturday for the fourth and final game in the series between the two teams.  St. Lucie hasn’t announced a starter for the game yet.  (box score)

SAVANNAH 10, CHARLESTON 4

Robert Gsellman only lasted 4.2 innings but would benefit from plenty of Sand Gnat offense, as Savannah clubbed Charleston 10-4 on Friday.  Gsellman made his fourth start since returning from the disabled list and has struggled to get back into the grove.  Dario Alvarez would replace Gsellman and record the win after throwing 2.1 innings without allowing a run and striking out six.  L.J. Mazzilli hit his seventh home run of the season and Amed Rosario would hit his first, as all but one player would register a hit.  Jeff McNeil would add a 3-for-4 night with two RBI bring his season tally to 33.  Savannah would scratch four across in the fourth and will hold on tightly  until scoring three big insurance runs in the ninth inning.  Saturday is the third of four against Charleston with John Gant on the mound looking for his sixth.  (box score)

METS MINORS PLAYER of the NIGHT

In a so-so night for the Mets overall as a franchise, there was slim pickings for the nightly award.  With 11 strikeouts a modest unbeaten streak which now sits at seven, Gabriel Ynoa is the Mets Minors Player of the Night.
