While other Mets minor league affiliates faced Sunday struggles, the spotlight was on 2019 draft pick Matt Allan. The 23-year-old made his long-awaited return to the mound after three years and multiple elbow surgeries, including two Tommy John procedures and an ulnar nerve transposition. Joey Meneses shined with Syracuse, hitting doubles in the first and ninth innings. Jon Singleton reached base four times in a strong outing, collecting two hits, an RBI, and two walks.

Chris Suero and Eli Serrano hit home runs, securing the Cyclones’ 4-0 victory and best start since 2012. Jacob Reimer smacked another single and took a walk, continuing his strong start to the season.

Left-hander pitcher Zack Thronton dominated in his Brooklyn debut, throwing 5 scoreless innings, allowing only two hits while striking out eight. The bullpen held it down, combined for four scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.

St Lucie failed to produce much hitting, as they fell 6-0 to the Jupiter Hammerheads. Marco Vargas and Daiverson Gutierrez provided the only hits as it was a rough day on the offensive side of the ball. They will look to rebound on Tuesday against the Lakeland Flying Tigers.

Matt Allan dazzled in his first appearance in six years, striking out five over 2.2 IP while allowing two hits and walking one. However, the bullpen failed to pick him up, allowing a combined 6 runs over 7.1 innings.
