SACRAMENTO 7, LAS VEGAS 4

Noah Syndergaard had a rare ineffective start on Wednesday night as he took the loss, pitching five innings and giving up six hits and four runs (three earned).  Even more surprising were his two walks compared to only two strikeouts. Wilmer Flores had an 1 for 5 night and committed his first error of the season at shortstop. Puello stayed hot as he had two hits in four at-bats and scored a run. Eric Campbell also scored a run and drove in two on his second home run of the season in the 4th inning. Campbell has carried his great spring into the regular season as he already has nine RBI’s. Jacob DeGrom, who did not give up a run in six innings pitched in his first start of the season, will take the hill on tonight opposite Joe Blanton.

BINGHAMTON 7, ERIE 1

The B-Mets put up seven runs on 10 hits to give Matthew Bowman the victory. Bowman put up five solid innings in which he gave up one run on three hits and struck out four. Wilfredo Tovar had a two hit night and knocked in three. Darrell Ceciliani had two hits in five at bats scoring a run and driving one in.  Kevin Plawecki is starting to heat up as he also put forth a 2 for 5 performance and scored a run, raising his batting average to .313 on the season. Matt Reynolds continued his cold start to the season with an 0 for 3, sinking his average to a measly .150. Darin Gorski will get the start on tonight.

ST. LUCIE 5, JUPITER 2

The St. Lucie Mets scored three runs in the 3rd inning which ended up being enough for Matt Koch who turned in six solid innings, giving up eight hits and two earned runs while walking none and striking out one. Dilson Herrera started at shortstop and had two hits in five at bats, scoring a run and knocking in one to boot. Brandon Nimmo contributed a hit, two walks and two runs scored, bringing his average on the season to .316. Beck Wheeler picked up his second save of the season as St. Lucie cruised to a 5-2 victory. Gabriel Ynoa will look to continue his good start to the season as he takes the hill for St. Lucie tonight.

AUGUSTA 8, SAVANNAH 3

Augusta scored all eight runs in the 3rd inning of tonight’s match-up against the Sand Gnats. Ricky Knapp cruised through the first two innings of his outing but ran into trouble when he allowed two singles in a row to start the 3rd inning. On a hard hit ball to short that could have resulted in a double play, Gavin Cecchini committed an error that turned the inning into an ugly one. Knapp was taken out after recording just one out in the 3rd inning and eventually earned the loss. Akeel Morris dominated in three innings of relief, striking out nine and walking one. LJ Mazzilli had a 1 for 4 performance but drove in two of the three Savannah runs on the night. Dominic Smith also had two hits in four at-bats. Robert Gsellman will get the ball against Rome on tonight.

PLAYER OF THE NIGHT

Akeel Morris had nine strikeouts in three innings pitched.  That’ll do it, ladies and gentleman.
