Mets Minors Recap: Carson Benge Crushes Grand Slam

Drew Gilbert and Jon Singleton stayed hot to help the Syracuse Mets defeat the Worcester Sox, Carson Benge crushed his first professional grand slam, and A.J. Ewing continues to impress in St. Lucie.

Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (11-12) 8, Worcester Red Sox (14-10) 3 

BOX SCORE

Jon Singleton stayed hot with his sixth homer of the season.  In the top of the fifth, Luke Ritter and Chris Williams smacked back-to-back doubles to extend the lead to 6-2.

Waddell was only able to go four innings, giving Kevin Herget the opportunity to pick up the win. Dedniel Núñez continues to build up his strength in hopes of making his way back to Queens.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (10-7) 0, New Hampshire Fisher Cats (7-9) 5

BOX SCORE

The offense was quiet collecting only two hits on the night with one each coming from Kevin Parada and Wyatt Young.

Nolan McLean took his first loss of the season, giving up three runs on six hits over 5.1 innings. His ERA still stands at a sparking 1.77.

High-A

 Brooklyn Cyclones (13-6) 8, Jersey Shore BlueClaws (6-13) 3

BOX SCORE

Carson Benge cranked a grand slam in the third inning to put the Cyclones up 4-0. Ronald Hernandez pitch ran for Chris Suero early in teh game, and continued to go 2-3.

R.J. Gordon picked up the win, going five innings of one run ball while striking out nine.

Low-A

 St Lucie Mets (11-8) 11, Daytona Tortugas (9-10) 2

BOX SCORE

A.J. Ewing hit his fourth triple while driving in a run. Colin Houck has continued his hot streak, hitting his third double of the season, while driving in two.

Edgar Moreta and Will Watson teamed up for solid performance striking out 10 and allowing only two runs over a combined nine innings.
