LAS VEGAS – DAY OFF

The 51s had an off day on Wednesday. Noah Syndergaard will return to the mound on Thursday against Fresno at Cashman Field.

ALTOONA 6, BINGHAMTON 5

The B-Mets fell short against Altoona on Wednesday. Hansel Robles registered another shaky start. He came one out short of five innings pitched and allowed seven hits and five earned runs, while walking two and striking out six. Jack Leathersich came in for relief and pitched 1.1 flawless innings, punching out three batters in the process. On the offensive side, Matt Reynolds had a 4 for 5 night while knocking in a run. Jayce Boyd also collected two hits and scored a run. Kyle Johnson collected two hits as well and knocked in a run. Angel Cuan will take the ball on Thursday as the B-Mets look to get back on track.

ST. LUCIE 4, DUNEDIN 3

St. Lucie was able to edge out a win over Dunedin on Wednesday. Luis Cessa got the ball for the Mets and allowed all three of his earned runs in the bottom of the third inning. Other than that, he looked very, very good. In his seven innings pitched, Cessa allowed five hits and did not walk a batter. He also sent 10 batters back to the bench via the strikeout. Dilson Herrera and Brandon Nimmo each went 1 for 4 on the night. Herrera drove in a run on a double and Nimmo scored two runs. Cam Maron went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. Aderlin Rodriguez plated two on a double as well. Matt Koch will take on Dunedin on Thursday night.

ASHEVILLE: 12, SAVANNAH 6

The Savannah Sand Gnats were pummeled by the Asheville offense on Wednesday as Ricky Knapp took a brutal loss in the process. In just 2.2 innings of work, Knapp was slammed for eight earned runs on 11 hits and two walks. He struck out a single batter. The good news is the Savannah offense still managed to put up six runs on the board. Gavin Cecchini had a 2 for 4 night with two doubles and two RBI’s. Catcher Colton Plaia went 3 for 3 with a homerun and two RBI’s. Amed Rosario registered a single in four at-bats. Miller Diaz will take on Charleston tomorrow at 7:05 am.

PLAYER OF THE NIGHT

If you look past the three earned runs, Luis Cessa allowed just five hits in seven innings without walking a batter. He also punched out ten.
