LAS VEGAS vs TACOMA – Game 1 – Suspended

The 51’s were in Tacoma to face the Rainiers at Chaney Stadium for their second game of a four game series. Friday’s match-up saw the 51’s lose the game 6-4, then Saturday’s game was postponed due to rain, to be made up on Sunday. The game would last only 6.1 innings before the rains would come again to force a suspension. Rafael Montero started the game and gave up two earned runs on five hits, walking three and striking out six. Jeff Walters, in relief of Montero, gave up two earned runs on three hits, walking one and one strikeout. The 51’s scored a run in the first and third, three in the fourth and two in the seventh, before the rains stopped the game. The key highlights in the game were home runs, by Wilmer Flores, Brandon Allen and Andrew Brown. The game will be resumed on Monday. (box score)

Saturday Night’s game between the 51′s and the Rainiers was supposed to be completed on Sunday night after Game 1, but the rain would not cooperate, suspending the first game in the top of the seventh, and causing Game 2 to be postponed until July 23rd.

Rainy Lara came into the game looking for his third win of the season, but he would give up three early runs (two earned) to the Sea Dogs and the B-Mets would fail to score more than a run, even though they banged out 10 hits, and lost the game 4-1 Sunday at NYSEG Stadium. METS MINORS PLAYER of the NIGHT

Wilmer Flores came into Sunday’s game batting .387 in his last nine games, with two home runs and eight RBI’s. He didn’t disappoint in Sundays game by launching a three-run home run, his third in two games, in the top of the fourth to put the 51’s up 5-1, before the rains would suspend the game in the top of the seventh. Flores is starting to get hot just when the Mets could use another bat.
