Like fellow top prospect Jett Williams, Drew Gilbert lost most of his 2024 season due to an early-season injury. An April hamstring strain held him out until late July, but he struggled mightily once he returned–slashing .189/.274/.368 (.615) in his first full month back.

Although his September OPS sits at .777, Gilbert has hit seven extra-base hits–including this home run. His Friday homer was his first since September 6th (12 games), fourth of the month.

Jett Williams reached base twice on Friday in only his fourth game with Triple-A Syracuse. He picked up two singles and two walks. The 20-year-old has gone 6-for-14 with six walks and three doubles while reaching base at least twice in each of his four games with Syracuse.

  • CF Drew Gilbert: 3-for-4, R, HR (9), 5 RBI, BB (.687 OPS)
  • SS Jett Williams: 2-for-3, 2 R, 2 BB, K, SB (1.243 OPS)
  • RF DJ Stewart: 2-for-5, 2 R, HR (3), RBI, K, SB (5) (.904 OPS)
  • 3B Brett Baty1-for-3, RBI, BB, K (.863 OPS)
  • C Hayden Senger: 1-for-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 K (.731 OPS)

Brett Baty played in his second game back from his August finger injury, playing in the field for the first time. The 24-year-old played five innings at third base, going 1-for-3 with an RBI.

  • RHP Dom Hamel (6.79 ERA) 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 4 K (85 pitches/50 strikes)
  • RHP Eric Orze (2.92 ERA) 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
  • RHP Kyle Crick (2.25 ERA) 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
  • RHP Ty Adcock (5.18 ERA) 1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

Hamel wrapped up his 2024 season with two fantastic starts–concluding on Friday with five innings of two-run ball and a win. While he enjoyed plenty of run support, Hamel managed to hold off the Knights offense, though he allowed eight baserunners (four hits and four walks).

For the year, Hamel had career highs in BB/9, HR/9, and FIP, while his career-worst was 9.03 K/9. Assuming he starts the 2025 season in Triple-A, the Mets front office will need to see some positive regression to his previous career numbers.

Syracuse won the game 12-5 against the Charlotte Knights BOX SCORE

Syracuse wraps up the season this weekend with two games against the Knights. RHP’s Blade Tidwell and Mike Vasil will start for the Mets, who are looking to finish the season on a high note.
