LAS VEGAS 6, EL PASO 4

The Las Vegas 51’s won their sixth game in a row by defeating the El Paso Chihuhua’s 6-4.  It seemed like the 51’s were going to score every inning instead of every other like they did on Friday.  That trend of scoring every inning ended after the third with Las Vegas up 5-4.  Dana Eveland started the game and was the winner going six innings striking out 10 Chihuahua’s improving to 3-1.  It was his highest strikeout total of the season.  Xorge Carrillo who was recently called up from Binghamton went 2-for-5 in his first career Triple-A game.  He was hitting .342 in Double-A prior to the promotion.  He also scored twice and drove in a run.  Brandon Allen went deep in the third inning hitting his third home run of the season.  The 51’s are 20 games over .500 and are showing no signs of slowing down.  Sunday is the series finale against El Paso before heading out to Fresno for four.  Logan Verrett is scheduled to make the start.  (box score)

BINGHAMTON 6, NEW HAMPSHIRE 5

Rainy Lara picks up his fourth win of the season despite a late charge by the Fisher Cats, as Binghamton wins their fourth in a row defeating New Hampshire 6-5.  Lara was pulled in the bottom half of the seventh inning in favor of John Church with two left on clinging to a 6-3 lead.  Church would allow both inherited runners to score but would shut the door after that.  Cody Satterwhite came in for Church and made sure the win was secured for the Mets.  Kevin Plawecki went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and now has 15 hits in his last ten games.  Binghamton is now 8-2 in their last 1o games.  The teams will close our the series on Sunday afternoon with Tyler Pill getting the start.  (box score)

ST. LUCIE 6, LAKELAND 3

St. Lucie scored four runs in the eighth inning enroute to their 24th win of the season.  Matthew Koch improved to a perfect 5-0 throwing 7.1 solid innings giving up two runs on seven hits.  Koch didn’t walk anybody but he also didn’t record a strikeout for the first time this season.  Randy Fontanez threw 1.2 innings of relief closed out the game for the Mets who have now won the first two games of this series.  Dilson Herrera and Cam Maron each had three hits for St. Lucie, with Maron driving in one run.  T.J. Rivera is still hitting the ball well now with an average of .381.  He also drove in a run on Saturday which was his 35th of the season.  Gabriel Ynoa is scheduled to pitch Sunday in the third game of the series.  (box score)

CHARLESTON 3, SAVANNAH 1

Savannah would record 12 hits on Saturday outhitting their opponent, but would only be able to push one run across, losing to the River Dogs 3-1.  Robert Gsellman made his first start in nearly a month and went three innings giving up two unearned runs while striking out three.  Gsellman would wind up with the loss which was his third of the season.  Four SandGants players would have two or more hits, but the staggering statistic of the game was their 0-15 with runners in scoring position.  They would also leave 13 runners on base as well.  Stefan Sabol would drive in the lone run for Savannah on a ground out in the bottom half of the ninth.  Three more games remain in the series against Charleston with Chris Flexen scheduled to start on Sunday.  (box score)

METS MINORS PLAYER of the NIGHT

Another great night (with the exception of Savannah) in the Mets organization all the way to the top this time even.  Seems like the same names appear night in and night out as top performers.  Future looks bright if any of this progress translates to the major league level.  It was a toss up between Matt Koch’s 5th win and Kevin Plawecki’s offensive outburst.  In the end Kevin Plawecki is the player of the night with his performance tonight and the past couple of weeks.
