LAS VEGAS vs TACOMA

Saturday Night’s game between the 51’s and the Rainiers has been postponed due to rain.  It will be made up on Sunday as part of a double header.

BINGHAMTON 3, PORTLAND 2 – GAME 1

Darin Gorski goes six, and Chase Bradford records his fifth save of the season, as the Binghamton Mets beat the Portland Sea Dogs 3-2 in the first of two on Saturday at NYSEG Stadium.  Gorski gave up two runs on six hits while fanning five.  Bradford had a shaky outing but nonetheless saved the game for the Mets.  Kevin Plawecki picked up a couple of hits, and Travis Taijeron and Wilfredo Tovar recorded the two runs batted in for Binghamton.  Henry Owens went the distance for Portland in the losing effort but did a good job keeping the Binghamton offense in check.  Owens did record six k’s over his night of work. (box score)

PORTLAND 9, BINGHAMTON 3 – GAME 2

Portland wouldn’t have to wait very long to avenge their loss against Binghamton in game 1.  The Sea Dogs were relentless against the Mets pitching scoring nine runs on thirteen hits in seven innings.  Matthew Bowman started for the Mets and recorded his first loss of the season.  Here was Bowman’s work on his shortest outing to date: 4.1 IP, 10 H, 9 R, 2 BB, 1 K and his ERA was raised to 4.57.  Dustin Lawley picked up two hits in a relatively quite game for the B-Mets bats.  Rainy Lara is scheduled to make the start on Sunday for the series finale.  Binghamton is looking to make it 3-1 on this brief home stand. (box score)

BRADENTON 3, ST. LUCIE 2 – GAME 1

Ryan Fraser would pick up his first loss of the season after a poor showing in relief in the first game of the double header between St. Lucie and Bradenton.  Fraser came in for an extended appearance and went 1.2 innings giving up the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Domingo Tapia started the game and was relatively effective in his five innings of work.  The Mets would get two runs on just four hits.  Dilson Herrera was the only St. Lucie player to hit an extra-base hit when he hit a double to open up the game.  Aderlin Rodriguez and Cam Maron would drive in the two runs for the Mets. (box score)

ST. LUCIE 5, BRADENTON 1 – GAME 2

St. Lucie would score two runs to start the game and it would be all they needed as they took game 2 by a score of 5-1.  Luis Cessa started the game for St. Lucie and would pick up his first win of the season.  Randy Fontanez came in to close the game out and did just that, throwing two scoreless picking up his fourth save of the season.  The Mets bats woke up a bit with Brandon Nimmo and T.J Rivera going a combined 5-for-7 with three runs scored and two driven in.  Bradenton would get on the board in the fifth inning but just couldn’t get much going after that.  Matt Koch is scheduled to go on Sunday with Bradenton not naming a starter at the time of this article. (box score)

SAVANNAH 12, ROME 2

John Gant would go five strong and the Gnats offense would explode as Savannah knocks off Rome 12-2.  Gant would pick up his third win of the season.  Savannah had so much offense to speak of as they would score three runs in the first inning which ended up being enough.  Well enough to win not enough to be satisfied as they kept pouring it on.  The had three innings where they score 3 or more runs collecting thirteen hits in the process.  Savannah had no home runs in the rout but did have five doubles.  There was so much offense spread throughout the lineup that it is hard to highlight one or two players.  Garin Cecchini and Jeff Glenn did have three hits a piece with Cecchini driving in two runs.  Three SandGants would drive in multiple runs with seven total tallying at least one RBI.  It was Savannah’s fifth win in a row.  Sunday will be the third game of the four-game series with Chris Flexen getting the start. (box score)

METS MINORS PLAYER of the NIGHT

A large slate of games on Saturday for the Mets organization.  Some went the way we would like with the others not so much but that is why they play the games.  The honor of the MMN Player of the Night goes to T.J. Rivera.  Rivera with his 3-for-4 night raised his season average to .421 and now has 45 hits so far.
