LAS VEGAS 9, TACOMA 4

After Jacob deGrom was scratched from Monday night’s start due to his impending call-up, Joel Carreno received the spot start and was good enough to earn the victory. He spun 5.2 innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out five. On the offensive side, both Matt den Dekker and Allan Dykstra clubbed home runs; Dykstra’s of the 3-run variety. Recently demoted Omar Quintanilla drove in three runs on two hits, including a double. Struggling Cesar Puello had a two hit game and contributed a double himself while scoring three runs. Overall, Vegas had 12 hits on the night. Logan Verrett (2-2, 4.58) gets the ball on Tuesday night.

BINGHAMTON – OFF DAY

The B-Mets had an off day on Monday. They begin a three game series against Altoona on Tuesday. The starter for the B-Mets has yet to be announced.

ST. LUCIE 3, TAMPA 2

Gabriel Ynoa may have turned a corner on Monday night as he had his best start of the season to date. He threw five innings without walking a batter and allowing two runs (0 earned runs) on six hits and struck out six in the process. There were plenty of hits to go around for St. Lucie’s offense as they recorded ten on the night. Dilson Herrera continues to rake as he notched another two hits on Monday night, including a double and a run scored. Brandon Nimmo had a hit in four at-bats as he continues to cool down after his white hot start. Lost in the excitement of the St. Lucie offense is T.J. Rivera, who clubbed another two hits, added an RBI and raised his batting average to .388 on the season. The starter for St. Lucie’s game on Tuesday night has not been announced as of yet.

CHARLESTON 1, SAVANNAH 0

The Savannah Sand Gnats fell to Charleston in extras on Monday night after John Mincone walked Michael O’Neill with the bases loaded to force in the game winning run. Both starters were brilliant in this pitchers duel as the Gnats Kevin McGowan tossed six shutout innings, whiling allowing just three hits and two walks, while striking out six. Akeel Morris impressed yet again, punching out four batters in two flawless innings. Savannah’s offense was extremely quiet on Monday with the exception of third basemen Jeff McNeil who recorded three hits in four at-bats, however none for extra bases. Gavin Cecchini’s hitting streak was snapped on Monday in his 0 for 4 night. Domonic Smith also did not record a hit in four at-bats. Ricky Knapp will get the ball on Tuesday night as he looks to continue his solid season.

PLAYER OF THE NIGHT

On a night where no player in particularly really stood out, Gabriel Ynoa quietly tossed five innings, allowing only two unearned runs on six hits without walking a batter and struck out six.
