AAA: Worcester Red Sox (10-7) 9, Syracuse Mets (5-11) 2 BOX SCORE

Syracuse had a somewhat quiet day offensively, scoring two runs on seven hits. This loss snapped a four-game win streak for Syracuse. Wyatt Young had a double off Thomas Pannone and a single, while Travis Blankenhorn also added a double and a run off an RBI by Khalil Lee.

Carlos Cortes showed well in this game with a pair of singles. Also, Nick Meyer had an RBI single that scored Khalil Lee in the fifth inning in addition to stealing third base.

Félix Peña started the game for the Mets. While he was throwing strikes, Worcester had no problem finding hits against Peña. Andrew Mitchell replaced Peña but did not suppress the Red Sox offense, as he allowed an RBI single in the 4th inning and a home run to Johan Mieses in the top of the fourth inning.

Stephen Nogosek also appeared in this game, pitching very well except for allowing another Johan Mieses home run.

AA: Portland Sea Dogs (8-6) 4, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (4-9) 3 BOX SCORE

Mauricio’s home run to deep left center field in the top of the 8th inning cut the Portland lead in half. Overall, the Rumble Ponies scored four runs on six hits.

Luke Ritter also had a big hit in this game, doubling in the top of the fourth inning and driving in Francisco Alvarez and Brett Baty. Speaking of Baty, he had a 114 MPH double off Brayan Bello and a 112 MPH single in this game. His season hitting split is spectacular so far at .378/.417/.578

Alec Kisena started the game for the Rumble Ponies. His control was not great, throwing 39 balls out of 89 pitches and walking five batters. He gave up a two run RBI double in the first inning and a solo HR to David Hamilton.

Yeizo Campos replaced Kisena and gave up an earned run in 2.1 IP. Joe Zanghi pitched a nice eighth inning, striking out three batters to give the Rumble Ponies a good chance at tying the game.

A+: Hudson Valley Renegades (7-7) 2, Brooklyn Cyclones (8-6) 0 BOX SCORE

The Cyclones were shut out and held to one lone hit by Rowdey Jordan in this game. Three more baserunners were produced for Brooklyn via walks.

Other than Jordan’s hit, Palmer’s third stolen base of the year was the only bright spot for the Brooklyn offense. The Cyclones will look to produce more hits in their game today against Hudson Valley.

The Cyclones allowed zero earned runs in this game (two unearned runs). Carlos Ocampo threw sixty pitches and walked two batters in 3.2 IP while being responsible for the two unearned runs.

From there, Hunter Parsons, Evy Ruibal, and Colby Morris combined to throw the next 4.1 innings scoreless and with no walks. The Cyclones will look to maintain this same level of pitching today against the Renegades.

A: St. Lucie Mets (9-5) 6, Jupiter Hammerheads (7-7) 3 BOX SCORE

The St. Lucie Mets had a good offensive day on Saturday, scoring six runs on nine hits and four walks. Shervyen Newton doubled to center in the first inning, scoring Stanley Consuegra.

Later in the inning, William Lugo doubles to left, scoring Newton. Lugo also drove in Newton and Tzu-Wei Lin in the seventh inning with a single into center field. Drake Osborn also had a huge RBI single in the top of the fourth inning that scored Carlos Dominguez and moved two runners into scoring position.

Calvin Ziegler got the start for St. Lucie and showed promising stuff in 3.1 IP. In the first inning, he struck out two in a 1-2-3 inning. He also threw a 96 MPH fastball and had six whiffed pitches in the first inning alone.

Nathan Lavender got the win for Saturday’s game, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings. Brendan Hardy capitalized on his save chance by striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning for Jupiter.
