The New York Mets have been busy with a number of transactions in the early part of Spring Training. The Mets officially finalized the minor league deal with Johneshwy Fargas. They also signed RHP Tim Adleman and INF Tzu-Wei Lin to minor league deals.

Adleman, 34, last pitched in the majors in 2017 with the Cincinnati Reds. Since that time, he has pitched in the KBO, Atlantic League, and Triple-A. Last season, he made 31 appearances with the Reds Triple-A affiliate. He was 1-1 with a 3.80 ERA, 1.111 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9, and an 8.2 K/9.

Lin, 28, bounced between the minors and majors for the Boston Red Sox from 2017 – 2020. The full extent of his Major League experience last season was two innings at shortstop in April with the Minnesota Twins. After that game, he was designated for assignment. Lin would accept the assignment to the minors, but he landed on the IL after just seven games, and he would not play again for the rest of the season.

As the Mets are already beginning to assemble their minor league rosters for the season, they had to make a number of cuts. Those cuts included RHP Liam McCall, LHP Franklin Parra.

McCall, 23, was the Mets 29th round draft selection in the 2017 draft out of First Coast High School (Jacksonville, FL). McCall made 22 relief appearances for the St. Lucie Mets going 3-1 with a 4.01 ERA, 1.426 WHIP, 5.9 BB/9, and a 9.1 K/9.

Parra, 22, was the Mets 11th round draft selection in the 2018 draft out of Copiague High School (Copiague, NY). Parra made 21 combined appearances for the FCL Mets, St. Lucie Mets, and Binghamton Rumble Ponies. He was 3-4 with a 5.63 ERA, 1.957 WHIP, 8.2 BB/9, and a 7.7 K/9.

Finally, the Mets have optioned RHP Jordan Yamamoto and LHP Thomas Szapucki to minor league camp. Notably, both pitchers are coming off of injuries during the 2021 season, and they need extra time to stretch out to prepare to start for the Syracuse Mets to start the season.
