The New York Mets have made a number of roster moves with their minor league affiliates. The team has swapped upper level outfielders with Jake Mangum being promoted to Triple-A Syracuse, and Carlos Cortes going to Double-A Binghamton.

Mangum, 26, has had a strong season thus far with Binhamton. Over 31 games, he is hitting .283/.353/.408 with four doubles, four triples, one homer, and 10 RBI. He has also stolen six bases in eight attempts. Most of this damage has come in May as he has hit .367/.433/.483 over the month.

While Mangum has thrived, Cortes has struggled. Through 34 games, he is hitting .168/.231/.234 with four doubles, one homer, and eight RBI. He has been especially cold in May hitting .109.

The Mets have also announced right-handed starters Mike Vasil and Carson Seymour have been promoted from Low-A St. Lucie to High-A Brooklyn. Both pitchers were drafted by the Mets in last year’s draft.

Vasil, 22, has made eight starts for St. Lucie going 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA, 0.971 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9, and a 9.5 K/9. He entered the 2022 season as MMN‘s 27th ranked Mets prospect.

Seymour, 23, has started four games and made three relief appearances for St. Lucie. Overall, he is 4-0 with a 1.19 ERA, 1.055 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9, and an 8.0 K/9. Seymour has been gradually building up innings and increasing his pitch count. He has pitched at least five innings in his last four starts, and he threw a season high 89 pitches in his last start.

In other news, while Calvin Zielger was lifted early from his last start, MMN‘s own Michael Mayer reports there are no issues with Zielger, and he is expected to make his next start.

Finally, David Peterson announced he will be making the start in the series opener against the San Francisco Giants. With the injuries to Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, and Tylor Megill, the expectation is Peterson will be in the Mets rotation for another month or so.
