Syracuse Mets – Jason Krizan
Season Stats: .259/.337/.443, 24 2B, 3B, 13 HR, 57 RBI, SB
Week Stats: .409/.480/.818, 3 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, SB
Krizan has continued his hot hitting which began in July. Since July 1, Krizan has been hitting .317/.377/.557. That has led to a promotion to Triple-A Syracuse where has has hit since .353/.389/.647 over the last five games. This includes his hitting a long home run in his first game with Syracuse, which was one game after he hit a homer in his last game with Binghamton.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies – Mickey Jannis
Season Stats: 5-7, 4.76 ERA, 1.539 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9, 7.6 K/9
Week Stats: 2 GS, 2 L, 13.0 IP, 11 H, 4 R, ER, 2 BB, 22 K
It is simply astounding Jannis lost two games last week where he allowed only one earned run while striking out 22 batters. In both games he pitched, he struck out 10+ batters while allowing one earned or less. You cannot pitch better than Jannis did this past week, and it is a reminder that sometimes knuckleball pitchers have far different development paths than traditional pitchers. When Jannis is right with that knuckler like has was this past week, you see a pitcher who could make an impact at the Major League level.

St. Lucie Mets – Luc Rennie
Season Stats: 7-8, 3.92 ERA, 1.230 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9, 6.2 K/9
Week Stats: GS, L, 8.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
St. Lucie has been making a playoff push, and Rennie has been front and center of that. Since July 23, he has made five starts, and he has gone 2-2 with a 1.95 ERA, 0.930 WHIP, and a 3.1 K/BB. Rennie has not allowed more than three earned in a start since July 9, and he has walked more than two just once June 15. He’s currently in a stretch with three quality starts in a row. His last game was the most impressive with his allowing just two earned over eight while walking none and striking out six.
Columbia Fireflies – Daison Acosta
Season Stats: 2-3, 2.13 ERA, 1.164 ERA, 3.9 BB/9, 10.0 K/9
Week Stats: 2 GS, L, 11.1 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 9 K
Not once this season has Acosta allowed more than three earned in a start. That includes his stretch the past week where he did not allow an earned run in each of his starts. In both of his starts, he pitched into the sixth inning. This is part of how Acosta has been both throwing more pitches in a game while also learning how to better economize is pitches to go deeper into games. This is just yet another step forward for a starter who is taking a huge step forward in his development this year.

Brooklyn Cyclones – Garrison Bryant
Season Stats: 4-1, 2.88 ERA, 0.853 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9, 8.5 K/9
Week Stats: 2 GS, W, 10.0 IP, 5 H, R, ER, 0 BB, 11 K
Last week, Bryant was named a New York-Penn League All-Star, and he has continued to make the case he is the best pitcher in the league this season. He is currently in a stretch of nine appearances where he has allowed two earned or fewer. In eight of those starts, he has allowed one or fewer, and he has allowed zero in three of those starts. With two more strong starts behind him, Bryant is now one-hundredth off the league lead in ERA, and he leads the league in WHIP.
Kingsport Mets – Scott Ota
Season Stats: .281/.371/.516, 13 2B, 4 3B, 5 HR, 19 RBI
Week Stats: .400/.471/.600, 3 2B
The Mets 10th round draft pick has been a pleasant surprise this season, and he has been at his best in August. In August, he has five multi-hit games including his having a three hit game against the Pulaksi Yankees. In that game, he was 3-for-5 with a run and a double. On the strength of this game and the past month, Ota is now eighth in the Appalachian League in doubles and fifth in SLG and OPS. He’s also second in triples.
GCL Mets – Kenedy Corona
Season Stats: .295/.392/.437, 11 2B, 3 3B, 3 HR, 20 RBI, 18 SB, 4 CS
Week Stats: .263/.391/.474, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
Since being promoted to the GCL, Corona has hit well with a .297/.397/.424 batting line. Mostly, he has shown off his speed, but recently, he has been hitting for more power. In the month of August, he is slugging .455 which is significantly better than his .383 mark in July. This power stretch in August includes his last two games where he was a combined 4-for-10 with a double and two RBI.
DSL Mets – Jose Rivera
Season Stats: .263/.403/.491, 5 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 13 RBI
Week Stats: .365/.458/.632, 2 2B, HR, 5 RBI
Rivera had a huge week where he hit one-quarter of his doubles, half of his homers, and 30 percent of his extra base hits. This is all part of his six game hitting streak.
