Syracuse Mets – Ruben Tejada

Season Stats: .350/.431/.528, 12 2B, 3B, 5 HR, 21 RBI, CS
Week Stats: .364/.440/.591, 2 2B, HR, 4 RBI

Tejada has been a much better hitter his second go-round with the Mets. Aside from rookie ball, he never had an OPS above .800 over a full season in his Mets career. So far, this year, Tejada has a .958 OPS which is the result of his having two separate months over 1.000.

Tejada just ended a seven game hitting streak where he had five multi-hit games. While his seven game hitting streak snapped, he did walk on Sunday extending his streak of reaching safely to 12 games. Over this stretch, he is hitting .370/.442/.500.His top game this past week was on the Fourth against the Bisons. In the game, he was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI. His sixth inning three run homer sparked a six run inning which helped Syracuse go from a 3-1 deficit to a 7-5 win.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies – David Thompson

Season Stats: .234/.303/.379, 15 2B, 2 3B, 5 HR, 32 RBI, 7 SB
Week Stats: .368/.429/.474, 2 2B, 4 RBI

Since returning to Binghamton where he could get regular playing time, we have seen Thompson return to being a good hitter with power potential. This past week was one of his best, and he would have his first four hit game of the season.

Thompson was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI on Saturday against the Akron RubberDucks. His first inning single gave the Rumble Ponies a 1-0 lead. In the seventh, Thompson’s RBI single would provide the insurance run needed for the Rumble Ponies to pull out the 7-6 win.

St. Lucie Mets – Kevin Smith

Season Stats: 4-5, 3.28 ERA, 1.305 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9, 10.6 K/9
Week Stats: GS, 5.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, ER, 4 BB, 7 K

Smith pitched against the Daytona Tortugas whose lineup has four the top 30 prospects in the Reds farm system as rated by MLB Pipeline, and he would limit them to just one earned over 5.1 innings. If not for a fourth inning error leading to an unearned run or a bullpen blowup, Smith might’ve walked away with the victory.

Smith is now in his best stretch of the season. Over his last three starts, Smith has allowed exactly one earned in each start while pitching 17.0 innings total. Over those 17 innings, he has struck out 22 batters. This stretch is reminiscent of the pitcher who was 4-1 with a 0.76 ERA in Brooklyn last year.

Columbia Fireflies – Mark Vientos

Season Stats: .263/.315/.405, 18 2B, 7 HR, 40 RBI, 2 CS
Week Stats: .421/.476/.579, HR, 4 RBI

One pattern we are seeing in Vientos’ brief professional career is he needs an adjustment period to a new level. Once he’s adjusted, he begins to rake and really hit for power. Seeing Vientos recently, the adjustment period is over, and he’s ranking. Since June 16, he is hitting .367/.441/.567 with six doubles, two homers, and 15 RBI. He is currently in a stretch where he has a hit in seven of his last eight games. In the Month of July, he has three multi-hit games over six games played. He had a three hit game on July 3, and he would have two other two hit games this past week.

Brooklyn Cyclones – Yoel Romero

Season Stats: .242/.304/.355, 6 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 13 RBI, 3 SB, 2 CS
Week Stats: .391/.417/.739, 2 2B, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 2 SB, CS

Currently, Romero has a 10 game hitting streak, and he has a hit in 14 out of his last 15 games. In the month of July, he has begun hitting for more power with one third of his homers and all of his homers coming over the past week. With the power has come the RBI with him recording an RBI in four of the six games this month.

Kingsport Mets – Ramon Guzman

Season Stats: 1-0, 1.42 ERA, 1.053 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9, 9.9 K/9
Week Stats: 2 GS, 11.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 5 BB, 8 K

Guzman has gotten off to a hot start with him allowing three earned or less in each of his four starts, and he has allowed zero runs in three of those four starts. His best start was on July 2. In that game he allowed just three hits over 5.2 scoreless innings.

GCL Mets – Endy Rodriguez

Season Stats: .339/.486/.607, 9 2B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 3 SB
Week Stats: .412/.583/.588, 3 2B, 2 RBI, 3 SB

Since his promotion to the GCL, Rodriguez has been hitting. He currently has an eight game hitting streak with three multi-hit games. Incredibly, he has a stretch of five straight games with a double. Perhaps more impressive is his walking six times against three strikeouts. He has done this while playing catcher, first base, and all three outfield positions.

DSL Mets – Omar De Los Santos

Season Stats: .294/.391/.450, 5 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 15 RBI, 4 SB, CS
Week Stats: .421/.455/.474, 2B, 2 RBI, SB

De Los Santos has a six game hitting streak with three multi-hit games. This included a four hit game against the Cardinals Dominican Summer League team.
