In other Mets minor league coaching news, Gilbert Gómez became the manager of the Tigres del Licey in only December and led them to the Dominican Winter League championship earlier this week. At 31 he became the youngest LIDOM winner in league history.

The former Mets minor league player will begin his seventh season as a coach in the organization and his first as manager of the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones.

Mets Make a Roster Move

The Mets officially signed Adam Ottavino on Tuesday night. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, the Mets designated catcher Tyler Heineman for assignment. Heineman was claimed off waivers by the Mets earlier this offseason.

The move leaves Francisco Álvarez and Omar Narváez as the only catchers on the 40-man roster.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Mets signed utility player José Rondón to a minor league deal.
