The New York Mets selected third baseman Jacob Reimer with the 119th pick in the fourth round of the 2022 MLB Draft. He is an 18-year old from Yucaipa High School in California. He stands at 6’2”, 205lbs. He is committed to University of Washington.

Reimer was ranked No. 103 on MLB.com’s draft prospect list with 55 grade hit and power on MLB.com on a scale of 20-80. He was ranked No. 89 on Prospects Live.

MLB.com compared Reimer to former first-round pick by the Diamondbacks, Matt Davidson who played parts of five seasons in the MLB. He was a right-handed corner infield bat type. He hit 46 home runs between 2017-2018 with the White Sox.

Reimer, per MLB.com, is similar to Davidson. He has a balanced bat ad is a batter capable of making hard contact ad reaching the barrel to the ball. Scouts predict will be a powerful bat in the Mets’ lineup, which could move him quickly. Prospects Live had similar comments about Reimer, noting that he’s known for his bat speed and ability to put the barrel on the ball.

While Reimer was predominantly a shortstop in high school, it is likely he moves to third in the big leagues. He has a solid arm.

Another well-known Met comes from Yucaipa, pitcher Taijuan Walker. Reimer went a little lower than some predicted. Scouts predicted him to go in the first three rounds, however he went in round four, still very impressive for the 18-year old righty from Yucaipa.
