Major League Baseball announced that Mets third base prospect Eudor Garcia has been suspended 80 games without pay. He tested positive for Bumetanide and Furosemide, both of which can be used to mask drugs or steriods by helping to dilute the content of the user’s urine.
Garcia was the Mets fourth round pick in 2014 out of El Paso Community College and is currently ranked as the #20 prospect in the organization according to MLB Pipeline. The 21-year old left-handed hitter had a great 2015 season for the Class A Savannah Sand Gnats, hitting .296/.340/.442 with nine homeruns and 59 RBI in 105 games.
He made his pro debut in 2014 with the Kingsport Mets and hit only .262/.327/.347 in 55 games. I am currently working on my top prospect list and had him somewhere in the teens before the suspension news.
Earlier this offseason pitchers Jose Martinez (60 games) and Connor Buchmann (50) were each suspended for violating MLB drug testing. Martinez tested positive for Stanzolol and Buchmann for amphetamines.

Well I guess that clears up the third base situation in A+.
Unfortunately yes, I was really looking forward to how they would deal with Garcia/Urena. Definitely very disappointing news, especially since power potential is a big part of Garcia’s value.
Definitely disappointing, I figured with Urena being the better defensive player he would see the majority of PT at the hot corner. With Garcia getting time at third, first, DH, and an introduction to LF
And about the time Urena moves up, Garcia comes back…
Definitely think Garcia saw some time at 1B, I’m not sure the OF is a good idea though.
Do we have an issue with our minor league players for Steroids? This kid is a decent prospect too.
