The Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies clinched a playoff spot on Sunday, and they will be getting reinforcements with Jett Williams joining the team on Tuesday. The Brooklyn Cyclones had a heart-breaking final day of the season that sees them missing out on the 2023 playoffs.

Triple-A: Rochester (62-72) 9, Syracuse (55-79) 1, Box Score

Mendick and Cedrola combined for four of the six times Syracuse put a runner on base. Mendick is 12-for-24 with four extra-base hits and 8 RBIs in only six games since being sent back down to Triple-A Syracuse.

The struggles for Jarvis since coming over from the Brewers in the Canha trade continued on Sunday. Thomas was the only Syracuse pitcher on the day that got at least three outs and didn’t give up a run.

Binghamton and Hartford completed a game that was suspended earlier in the week. The Rumble Ponies went 7-for-14 with runners in scoring position. Jackson, acquired for Dominic Leone, has seven home runs and a .833 OPS in 32 games for Binghamton. Schwartz doesn’t get mentioned much because he’s on a team filled with top prospects, but he’s hitting .344/.429/.484 in 35 games since coming on the injured list. Gilbert, acquired for Justin Verlander, has reached base in 24 of his last 25 games.

Unfortunately for Hamel, the rain shortened what was looking like one of his best starts of the season. The 24-year-old has a 2.09 ERA over his last eight starts for Double-A Binghamton.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies officially clinched a playoff spot on Sunday when the game between Portland and Reading was canceled. The Rumble Ponies will begin the postseason next Tuesday, September 19, at Mirabito Stadium against the Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A Affiliate. It’s a best-of-three series, with the last two games (if necessary) will be played in Somerset.

Guillorme was playing in his second rehab game and played six innings in the field.

Williams picked up two more walks, giving him 102 on the season. He also stole his 44th stolen base of the season. The big news came after the game when we reported that the 19-year-old Williams was being promoted to Double-A Binghamton. Williams entered the season with only 10 pro games in the Florida Complex League.

Consuegra set a new Brooklyn Cyclones single-season home run record with 23, beating out Francisco Álvarez by one from his 2021 season.

The Consuegra home run gave the Cyclones a 2-1 lead headed into the eighth inning of a win and their in game. However, the Cyclones bullpen surrendered four runs in the eighth inning and one more in the ninth.

Brooklyn still had a chance to make the playoffs if Jersey Shore lost their game that was in the middle innings when Brooklyn’s game got over. Jersey Shore was down 9-7 with two outs in the ninth inning when they scored two runs on a throwing error to tie the game. Neither team scored in the 10th, but Jersey Shore scored one in the 11th and kept Hudson Valley from scoring in the bottom of the inning to clinch a playoff spot and end the Cyclones’ seasons.

Low-A: Daytona (56-72) 13, St. Lucie (44-84) 4, Box Score

McLean was on base twice and had a 99 mph lineout the day after he pitched two scoreless innings on Saturday. Morabito left the game early after only two plate appearances.
