Dylan Tebrake

With the 239th overall pick during round eight of the 2022 MLB Draft, the New York Mets selected right-handed pitcher Dylan Tebrake out of Creighton University. He is a 23-year-old from Cold Spring, Minnesota. He sits at 6’3”, 225 lbs, and is another tall pitcher in a class of tall pitchers.

Tebrake was ranked No. 365 on Baseball America’s draft prospects list. He was Creighton’s ace for the last three years. He is 21-5 with an impressive 2.80 ERA in 222 innings with the Creighton Blue Jays.

2022 was a year of growth and improvement for the young right-handed pitcher. He went from a velocity of 88-90 mph in the early part of the season to 91-92, touching 95 mph by the end of the year. As his velocity climbed, as did his effectiveness. His fastball has life at the top of the strike zone.

Along with his fastball, he has an average 82-84 mph slider, a mid-70’s below-average curveball that can surprise hitters, and an 80-81 mph below-average changeup.

Tebrake has plus command and control and is noted as a quality senior sign. He will be 23 years old before he throws at the professional level.

Tebrake closed out the 2022 season with a 2.71 ERA over 93 innings pitched. He was 8-2 in 2022, struck out 115, and walked just 33. He limited his opponents to just a .211 average. He was a two-time Big East First Team selection. He was also the 2021 and 2022 Big East Pitcher of the Year.

Tebrake’s slot value is $180,000. He is an LSU transfer portal pick-up, however, scouts predict he will sign to play professionally as opposed to completing his transfer to LSU.
