Nate Dohm
With their third selection in the 2024 MLB Amateur Draft, the New York Mets selected right-handed pitcher Nate Dohm out of Mississippi State, making him the 82nd overall selection. Dohm, 21, stands in at 6’4 and 210 pounds. He transferred to Mississippi State from Ball State after spending one year with the Ball State Cardinals. He was ranked the No. 165 draft prospect by MLB Pipeline.
The junior right-hander had a terrific year down in Mississippi, playing for the Bulldogs against some of the best amateur bats in the SEC. He posted a 1.23 ERA over 29 1/3 innings pitched, and helped lead his team to the NCAA Regional. He struck out 37 and walked only four during that span.
Dohm currently profiles as a potential mid-rotation arm that can overpower batters with his three-pitch mix that features an electric fastball that sits 94 and has hit 97; it’s not just the velocity that makes his fastball electric; the explosive carry-on that makes it a real deal pitch. He also contains two solid breaking pitches, a slider, and a curve. Both of those breakers have an ability to get whiffs, but the 80-s slider gets a ton of empty swings, which sets up a 79-82 mph curve to be a lethal strikeout pitch.
With their third round pick, the Mets select RHP Nate Dohm from Mississippi State.

The 21-year-old has had some durability issues, as he had some forearm issues as a sophomore, so that is definitely something to keep an eye on for the future.
The slot value for the pick is $934,800. The total slot value for the Mets currently stands at $9,572,200.
Today is far from over for the Mets drafting department, as they have six rounds of draft picks remaining today.
The Mets have already made two selections, as they took two-way player Carson Benge and left-handed pitcher Jonathan Santucci; for a more in-depth look at those two picks, click on this link.
