Round 11, Pick 323: OF Rowdey Jordan – Mississippi

With their first pick on Day 3, the Mets selected a big time college performer and recent College World Series Champion Rowdey Jordan. At 5’10”, 190 Lbs, Jordan manned center fielded for Hail State during their championship run. He will become the fourth member of Mississippi Baseball to be drafted by the Mets in the last four years, joining Jake Mangum, JT Ginn, and Cole Gorden.

“Jordan and fellow fourth-year junior Tanner Allen formed the heart and soul of Mississippi State’s College World Series championship club. A switch-hitting leadoff man and center fielder, Jordan batted .323/.417/.546 with 10 homers and nine steals in 68 games while ranking fourth in NCAA Division I with 74 runs. He’s a high-energy player whose performance stands out more than his tools, but he controls the strike zone, gets on base and makes the most of his average speed.”-MLB Pipeline

Jordan is no stranger to the cameras, considering his major Game three performance against Kumar Rocker and Vanderbilt in the 2021 College World Series. He profiles as a solid defender that can run well, but questions about his bat will persist as he transitions to the professionals.

Round 12, Pick 353: 1B/OF Jack-Thomas Wold – ULNV

In the 12th round, the Mets selected 4th year senior Jack-Thomas Wold out of UNLV. The left handed outfielder hit .429/.491/.793 over 33 games in his senior campaign and slugged 12 long balls. Wold mainly played first base this season, but was listed as an outfielder by MLB.com. Most impressively, Wold only struck out 14 times compared to 19 walks.

“With numbers like these, it’s no surprise there was no shortage of big games from the Henderson, Nev. native. He had 19 multi-hit games this season, including a five-hit effort against San Diego State on May 15 where he hit three doubles and knocked in five runs. He had four-hit games on three other occasions as well.  He finished the regular season on a streak of 19 straight games of reaching base, and earning conference player of the week honors on May 17.”- CalsSummerBall

Wold profiles as a bat that should have no issue adjusting to pro-ball and moving through the Mets’ system, but questions regarding his defense will likely be the main hurdle he faces.

Round 13, Pick 382: OF Matt Rudick – San Diego State

23 year-old outfielder Matt Rudick was the Mets’ thirteenth selection in this year’s draft. Rudick, with a shorter build of 5’9″, 170 Lbs., hit .410/.484/.567 in his fourth season at San Diego State. Rudick ran the bases extremely well in his junior season, swiping 17 out of 18 attempted bags. Rudick moved off center field as a senior but is projected to be shifted to left field, which Baseball America citing his “fringe-average range and average arm”.

Rudick profiles as a glove first prospect that runs well, but it will be interesting to see if his bat can translate to the professional level.
