According to Jim Callis of Baseball America, the New York Mets have signed 20th-round draft pick, Dan Herrmann. The right-handed pitcher was drafted out of high school by New York, and has a solid build at 6’4″ and 205 lbs. Callis reports Hermann signed for a $200K bonus. He was committed to play at Bradley, but will forgo that opportunity for professional baseball.
Callis says that while Herrmann’s fastball can break into the low-90s, he’ll have to work on his command.
We’re currently working to put together a page with all of the Mets’ 2013 draft picks, their bonus numbers, and eventual first assignment for this season, so stay tuned!
For now, get to know Herrmann a little better by following him on Twitter: @TheDanHerrmann. Also, take a look at his motion in a few videos posted to his Perfect Game online profile.
