The Mets have signed their first round pick RHP Justin Dunn and third round pick 3B Blake Tiberi. They will both report to the Brooklyn Cyclones soon.
The was the 19th overall pick for the Mets in the 2016 draft. The right handed pitcher from Boston College was having a good season. He started as the closer but, moved to the rotation later in the season. He went 4-2 with a 2.06 ERA in 65.2 innings. Dunn struck out 72 this season to go with a 1.07 WHIP.

The third round and 100th overall pick Blake Tiberi also signed on Tuesday. The left handed hitting third baseman from the University of Louisville batted .340/.387/.553 in 244 at bats. He belted ten home runs with 18 doubles, two triples and 51 RBIs. Our own Michael Mayer compared Tiberi with Daniel Murphy after reading the scouting reports.

Hopefully he´s better defensively than Murphy. Baseball smarts too…
So my basic math indicates that if we sign Kay at slot the Mets will have about $50K to use for signing remaining picks over slot.
Looks like we will have few , if any, high school upper end talent coming in.
Keep in mind that a team may go up to 10% over its allotment without losing draft picks. The he Braves have pretty much burned through their allotment and the 10% and still have their 8, 9, and 10 to sign.
So does Dunn instantly become the Mets #1 Pitching Prospect?
True, but with Atlanta those three are all college seniors I think, who are likely to sign for $10K each or thereabouts.
I think it’s tight between him and Gsellman for sure but ultimately I would say yes he is.
