According to Betsy Helfand of the Las Vegas Review Journal, the Mets have signed left-handed pitcher Ian Krol to a minor league contract.

Krol, 27, had previously pitched in the Angels organization in 2018. He had a 1.71 ERA in 18 appearances for the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees. Krol also appeared in one game with the Angels, where he threw two scoreless innings.

Lefties were hitting just .194 against Krol in the minors this year.

The reliever had been designated for assignment by the Angels on May 28th, and elected free agency rather than an outright assignment back to Triple-A.

Prior to 2018, Krol had logged at least 30 appearances in the Majors every season since 2013. Before the Angels, he had spent time with the Nationals, Tigers, and Braves. Krol’s best season was 2016, where he pitched to a 3.18 ERA in 63 games for Atlanta.

Krol will be assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas.
