According to Baseball America the Mets have signed right-handed pitcher Joseph Zanghi to a minor league deal. Zanghi was drafted by the Reds in the 24th round in the 2015 draft out of Cumberland County College in New Jersey but did not sign with Cincinnati.
The 21-year old started his college career at Southern New Hampshire University where he split time between catching and pitching as a freshman. He transferred to Cumberland County for the 2015 season and excelled as a pitcher going 6-3 with a 1.71 ERA with 81 strikeouts compared to just 20 walks in 63.2 innings. He has a solid frame already at 6’2 and 225 pounds.
Like this signing a lot
likewise, love getting guys that are new to pitching with good potential.
Why didn’t he sign out originally?
What does he throw and how hard?
That I have not found out yet. Will pass it along when I do.
