In the fifth round, 148th overall, The Mets have selected Nathan Jones, a senior right-handed pitcher from Northwestern State University.
Jones tossed 81 innings, struck out 80 batters and walked 20, while sporting a 2.78 ERA in his 2019 season. Jones was a former catcher who converted to pitcher. Originally a walk-on to the team, he did not generate enough velocity coming out of high school and developed further in college.
Here is a good article on Jones from Designated Writers.
Don't have Nathan Jones, but hearing he is a good performer, 90-93 mph FB and touches 94 with a fringe-average curve. 2.78 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 81 innings this spring in the Southland Conference.

It will likely not take much to sign Jones, as he will sign for way less than the $364,400 slot that the 148th overall provides. The Mets will need to save money from the slot bonus pools in the 4th – 10th rounds to sign the high-priced Matthew Allan.
