The New York Mets will promote right-handed pitcher Tyler Bashlor to the major leagues on Monday, a source confirmed to MMN’s Michael Mayer.

The news was first reported by Frank Sulkowski of WJCL News in Savannah, G.A., Bashlor’s hometown.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed another strong season to this point in 2018, his third back from a two-year Tommy John surgery-induced abscence, and first with Double-A Binghamton.

In 24.0 innings spanning 20 appearances, Bashlor has recorded a 2.63 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 2.50 K/BB ratio. He last pitched on Sunday, punching out four batters in two perfect innings.

Given that he had been added to the 40-man roster this past offseason, Bashlor was likely an easy add to the major league squad given his performance and the state of the bullpen following Sunday’s patchwork of a game. He’ll be in uniform for Monday’s contest at Citi Field against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
