MiLB.com is doing a team-by-team analysis of each team’s best prospects solely according to the numbers they put up during the 2016 season.  There was no consideration paid to the player’s age or their prospect status.  With those parameters in mind, here were MiLB’s top Mets prospects:

C – Tomas Nido (St. Lucie) – .320/.357/.459, 23 2B, 2 3B, 7 HR, 46 RBI

1B – Dominic Smith (Binghamton) – .302/.367/.457, 29 2B, 2 3B, 14 HR, 91 RBI, 2 SB

2B – Walter Rasquin (Kingsport) – .294/.353/.374, 3 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 20 RBI, 8 SB

3B – T.J. Rivera (Las Vegas) .353/.393/.516, 31 2B, 3B, 11 HR, 85 RBI, 3 SB

SS – Amed Rosario (St. Lucie & Binghamton) .324/.374/.459, 24 2B, 13 3B, 5 HR, 71 RBI, 19 SB

OF – Brandon Nimmo (Las Vegas) .352/.423/.541, 25 2B, 8 3B, 11 HR, 61 RBI, 7 SB

OF – Ricardo Cespedes (Kingsport) .322/.356/.379, 4 2B, 3 3B, HR, 16 RBI, 7 SB

OF – Travis Taijeron (Las Vegas) .275/.372/.512, 42 2B, 5 3B, 19 HR, 88 RBI, SB

UTIL – Gavin Cecchini (Las Vegas) .325/.390/.448, 27 2B, 2 3B, 8 HR, 55 RBI, 4 SB

LHP – P.J. Conlon (Columbia & St. Lucie) 12-2, 1.65 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 112 K

RHP – Harol Gonzalez (Brooklyn) 7-3, 2.01 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 88 K

RP – Corey Taylor (St. Lucie) 4-5, 23 SV, 1.87 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 45 K

Already, Rivera, Nimmo, and Cecchini have had a positive impact on the major league club.  Cecchini and Taylor played well in the Arizona Fall League. Nido was recently added to the Mets 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft along with Rosario.

Congratulations to these players and all the Mets minor leaguers who have had an outstanding year. Earlier this offseason we did our own version of the Mets minor league All-Star team.
