Earlier yesterday, around 10am, ESPN’s Adam Rubin leaked some reports on the Mets Triple-A composition, and continued with other minor league placements. As described by Rubin, the Triple-A Team is as followed:
Bullpen:
LHP Dario Alvarez, LHP Duane Below, RHP Chase Bradford, LHP Chase Huchingson, RHP Stolmy Pimentel, RHP Paul Sewald, LHP Josh Smoker, RHP Jeff Walters
While Zach Thornton will be ticketed for Las Vegas as well once he is cut from big league camp. That would put the Vegas bullpen at 9 pitchers which would force someone down to Binghamton at that point.
On a side note, congrats to Las Vegas native Paul Sewald who will get the start tonight for the Mets against the Cubs at Cashman Field.
Infield:
SS Gavin Cecchini, 2B Dilson Herrera, UTI Ty Kelly, 1B Marc Krauss, INF Danny Muno, INF T.J. Rivera
Rotation:
RHP Gabriel Ynoa, RHP Seth Lugo, RHP Rafael Montero
Should expect the loser of the long-man battle between Logan Verrett and Sean Gilmartin to be a part of the Vegas rotation as well.
Outfield:
Roger Bernadina, Travis Taijeron, Brandon Nimmo, LF Jayce Boyd
Rubin also expects:
- SS Amed Rosario and Luis Guillorme to start at High-A St. Lucie, which will make an incredible middle Infield, defensively.
- SS Milton Ramos, 1B Dash Winningham, LF Kevin Kaczmarski, C Patrick Mazeika, RHP Tyler Badamo, OF Vicente Lupo, OF Joe Tuschak, CF Ivan Wilson, UTI Tucker Tharp will be on Columbia’s inaugural roster.
- Center Field Prospect Desmond Lindsay will stay in extended spring training.
- RHP Robert Gsellman will open the season for the Binghamton Mets
- 1B Dominic Smith, INF Jeff McNeil, and 2B L.J. Mazzilli will all open in Binghamton.
Not sure where St. Lucie will play Luis Guillorme, who is a defensive whiz at shortstop but not the overall prospect that Rosario is. As noted in our roster projections we don’t expect Mazeika and Kaczmarski to stay in Columbia very long.
With Rosario not starting in Binghamton I would expect McNeil to gets some starts at shortstop where he played when Amed was injured last season for St. Lucie.
Ted’s Prospect Extras:
Other St. Lucie placements we expect:
3B Jhoan Urena
I wonder who gets bumped to AA when Reynolds gets sent down? My guess is Rivera and I guess he’ll play SS everyday there
If Rivera gets bumped down which is possible I can guarantee you they don’t play him everyday at SS. He is not a SS, more likely you see him at 3B with McNeil at SS.
Probably no one, probably run Vegas short a man for a week
Rivera isn’t a SS. If he’s ever a big leaguer it’s as a utility guy. McNeil is a much better option at SS
If rivera gets moved down i would be shocked. he has nothing left to prove there. i see him as an everyday guy in vegas playing 3rd 1st 2nd and outfield. no way he would be the one to move down there is just NO WAY.
Agreed that he shouldn’t but the Mets did it too him at the end up last season despite playing well in AAA.
Thanks for the shocking info. BTW Bradford’s name is Chasen. Might as well get it correct in the future.
We have called him Chasen way longer than most have. He has loosened his stance on his name and even changed it to Chase on his twitter account.
