Minors Recap: Clifford Homers In Rumble Ponies Win

Blade Tidwell was hit hard in his start for Syracuse but Ryan Clifford was the lone bright spot on Tuesday, hitting his 17th home run of the season on Tuesday in the Rumble Ponies Victory

Triple-A

GAME 1

Worcester Red Sox (54-60) 11, Syracuse Mets (64-49) 4 (7 Innings continuation Of August 11th Game)

Syracuse did not score a run in the continuation portion of this game.

Tyler Zuber was shelled in his inning of work, allowing six runs on six hits while walking one. Since August 25th, Zuber has allowed 10 runs in six innings despite striking out 10 batters.

GAME 2

BOX SCORE

Luisangel Acuña stole his 40th base of the season on the day but his OPS remains low at .657. Drew Gilbert hasn’t been otherworldly since his return from the injured list, but his power surge has helped keep his OPS at .644 despite a .197 average.

Blade Tidwell hasn’t been sharp since he arrived in Triple-A and Tuesday’s start was a microcosm of his season for Syracuse. He has walked 51 batters in 74 innings while allowing 17 home runs and striking out 63 batters. Hitters are hitters .256 against him on the season.

Double-A

Ryan Clifford continued to show off his power on Tuesday, sending an absolute cannon shot of a home run to right field. Alex Ramírez saw his OPS drop to under .600 with an 0-for-4 showing at the plate. Jett Williams has looked good since his return from his wrist injury, getting two hits in four at bats.

Luis Moreno has shown some promise in Double-A despite his ERA, striking out over a batter an inning. Jordany Ventura has also had a nice season, striking out 52 batters in 45 innings while only allowing 36 hits.
