D.J. Mitchell has really struggled to find himself recently, and last night was no different as he gave up seven runs on the way to a 51s 12-5 loss. Mitchell, in his last nine starts, possesses an ERA of 8.27 and has allowed 55 hits in 37.0 innings. Those stats include this start, where he allowed seven earned runs over just four innings of work. Greg Peavey and Armando Rodriguez were at least alive in the ‘pen, but struggled on their own.

The 51s offense was running in medium gear in their hitter’s haven of a home park, banging out twelve hits but just pushing five runners across the plate. The biggest blow of the evening was a solid-hit double by Wilmer Flores in the fifth, which plated two runners.

Tomorrow is likely Zack Wheeler‘s last start in AAA before his call-up.
