Las Vegas 7, Reno 0

The Las Vegas 51s used a five-run fifth inning Friday to beat the visiting Reno Aces for the third straight night, 7-0.

The 51s limited Reno to just two runs in the three-game winning streak, taking three of four games in the series at Cashman Field. Jamie Hoffmann had a grand slam in the fifth inning outburst and finished with five RBIs. Collin Cowgill went 3-for-3 with a solo home run in the first inning to give Las Vegas the lead for good and Wilmer Flores scored two runs. Josh Satin walked three times in his effort to impress the front office in any way possible.

D.J. Mitchell gave up six hits in six shutout innings to record the win. Josh Edgin, Justin Hampson, and David Aardsma combined to finish the game with a scoreless inning each for the 51s. The 51s open a series at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at the Fresno Grizzlies.
