With the Arizona Fall League season coming to an end, MLB Pipeline has comprised an All AFL Team. The team has been assembled using both performance and prospect status in their determinations. Taking all of that into account, Andres Gimenez was named as the shortstop.

This should come as no surprise as Gimenez led the AFL in both batting average and OPS. He was also fifth in the league in hits, tied for eighth in doubles, tied for third in triples, seventh in RBI, fourth in OBP, and second in slugging.

From the prospect status side, Gimenez is also well regarded. MLB Pipeline has rated him the third best prospect in the Mets farm system and the 92nd best prospect in the entire game.

With his play, Gimenez finished ahead of well regarded Twins prospect Royce Lewis. On that front, Gimenez had to really earn this honor as Lewis is not only the fourth best shortstop prospect in the game, but he had a good AFL season including his finishing third in average and slugging.

Gimenez hit .371/.413/.586 with five doubles, two triples, two homers, and 15 RBI in 18 AFL games. This was a strong step forward after a regular season where he relatively struggled for Double-A Binghamton. Overall, this should be an indication despite a tough season Gimenez still has a bright future ahead of him.
