Seth Davis is a lefty reliever who is currently in the Colombia Fireflies bullpen. The Mets drafted Davis in the 29th round of the 2015 draft. He was drafted out of Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.

Davis started his pro career with the Kingsport Mets last season pitching 19.1 innings with a 2.79 ERA and 1.19 WHIP while striking out 22 batters. Here you can read a full review of his first season with the Mets.

The 23-year old lefty from Aurora, Colorado has continued his success this season with the Fireflies in the South Atlantic League. Lefties are hitting only .091 off him and he has thrown more than one inning in nine of his ten appearances this season. He has gone 1-1 with one save while sporting a 2.84 ERA and has 24 strikeouts in 25.2 innings.

MMN: First off, thanks for making time for answering my questions. You got drafted last year by the Mets. How did it feel getting the call that you got drafted?

Seth: It was a pretty unbelievable feeling for me. Just having graduated from college, it was kind of a crossroads in my life so I was really happy and grateful when I got the call.

MMN: Who is Seth Davis and how do you describe your game?

Seth: I’m a lefthanded pitcher from Denver Colorado. I went to a small division III college in Illinois. I love playing ping pong and hanging out with friends when I’m home. When pitching I try to go out every time and attack the zone.

MMN: This will be your first full season in the Mets organization. How did you prepare for this year?

Seth: This offseason was very unique for me. I asked around to some of my friends who play or have played pro ball as how to best structure the offseason. That helped a lot and I felt very prepared coming into this year.

MMN: How was it to practice in minor league camp and what does a day of work look like in minor league spring training?

Seth: My first minor league camp was a lot of fun for me. Just getting to know new people and getting familiar with St. Lucie was a great experience. There’s nothing better than getting back on the field after a long off season. The days were definitely long and my body was pretty sore the first couple of days. But once you get into a rhythm everything becomes a lot more comfortable.

MMN: How do you prepare for each outing?

Seth: I’ve tried to establish a routine everyday for the bullpen so when my number is called I feel comfortable coming out. It’s definitely been a learning experience.

MMN: You are pitching for the Columbia Fireflies in their first season. How does that feel?

Seth: Columbia has been great. From the stadium to the fans it’s been an unreal experience. It’s definitely a baseball city. It’s nothing like I’ve ever experienced. I’m excited to see the turnout the rest of the summer.

MMN: The Fireflies got their first franchise win in a no-hitter, how was it in the clubhouse after the game?

Seth: The no-hitter was one hell of a way to get our first win. The guys who pitched in that game were fun to watch. It’s something that brought the team together early in the season and got us going in the right direction.

MMN: What are your goals for this season and what are you working on to improve?

Seth: This season I want to just keep learning about the art of pitching and just getting used to playing a full season of baseball. Just trying to soak up everything I can. Everything is a learning experience.

MMN: Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions.

Seth: I appreciate the questions!
