Nimmo3

In a week that is like Christmas, Hanukkah, and the Super Bowl all rolled into one for someone who follows the minor leagues, despite a few rain-outs and some offensive explosions there was some standout performances in all aspects of the game.

Offensive Player of the WeekBrandon Nimmo (Las Vegas 51s)

In a week where he missed two games to attend a friends wedding, all Nimmo did was hit .550 in 20 AB, with three HR and seven RBI. With him slugging at a Barry Bonds like rate of 1.150 with an OPS of 1.721, has many fans retracting the bust label.

Honorable Mention – Hansel Moreno (DSL Mets2) & Luis Guillorme (STL)

The lanky MI (6’3”, 157 lbs) Moreno hit .409 with hitting his first professional HR for the DSL Mets 2. If he keeps this up the three year DSL veteran could find himself stateside by the end of the summer.

I would be remiss for not having the slick fielding Guillorme listed. He also hit his first professional HR in over 1200 PA. Guillorme who hit .389 on the week also hit his first career triple.

Ricky Knapp

Starting Pitcher of the WeekRicky Knapp (St Lucie Mets)

Knapp tossed eight shutout innings and struck out a season best nine batters. He scattered five singles and walked one. Knapp won his sixth game and lowered his ERA to 1.92.

Honorable Mention(s) Chris Flexen (STL)

Flexen stuck out a season high nine batters in 5.2 innings while allowing only four hits and one earned run.

Relief Pitcher of the WeekPaul Paez (St Lucie Mets)

Paez picked up his first save of the season in a four inning effort, and pitched in with two innings as part of the St Lucie bullpen that held the Dunedin Blue Jays to one run over 12.2 innings in back to back extra inning efforts

Honorable Mention – Tim Peterson (B’Mets)

Peterson earned the win in back to back games for Binghamton this week. His first and second at the AA level.

Defensive Player of the WeekPatrick Biondi (STL)

The fleet footed CF was part of not one but two double plays during the week, and nailed a runner at the plate. Living up to his billing as the best defensive OF in the system

Honorable Mention:  Luis Guillorme (STL)

Seeing another game at SS this week as Amed Rosario got a day at DH. Guillorme was a part of seven DP in a rain shortened week for St Lucie.
