Binghamton 6 (6-9), Erie 2  Box Score

The B-Mets finally ended their six-game losing streak winning this one 6-2. Derrik Gibson led the way going 3 for 5 with two RBI while Dominic Smith went 1 for 4 with an RBI. Phillip Evans got his first hit at Double-A with a single in the fifth inning. L.J. Mazzilli went for 2 for 3 with two runs scored, raising his average to .218. Its been a tough start to the season for him, hopefully he can turn it around soon. It was nice to see the lineup get going with 12 hits after their lackluster performances over the last six games.

Mickey Jannis started the game and gave up two runs on four hits, while striking out four and issuing five walks. He had big issues with his command and is the main reason why he had a short start. Mike Hepple pitched one and two thirds scoreless innings while giving no hits, striking out two and issuing three walks. Lefty David Roseboom followed with two scoreless innings and Akeel Morris closed it out in the 9th with a scoreless inning.

Injury Note: The Binghamton Mets have placed outfielder Stefan Sabol on the 7-day disabled list and have activated catcher Raywilly Gomez.

St. Lucie 5 (11-7), Bradenton 1  Box Score

Casey Delgado came into the season as the six man in the rotation but he’s arguably been their best pitcher so far. He is 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA, not bad for the former Indy baller. He set the tone in this one, limiting the Marauders to one run on four hits while walking just one batter. He struck out six and at one point, he retired nine consecutive batters until Tomas Morales started the eighth with a double. Morales eventually came around to score on a sac fly. Delgado was pulled in the 8th, Corey Taylor came in and retired four straight batters to end the game in a non-save situation.

On the offensive side, the Mets did most of their damage in the 4th inning. Kevin Taylor blasted a solo shot for his first in the Mets organization (another former Indy ball player). Later that inning Jhoan Urena smacked a two-run triple to center and winded up scoring on the play because of a throwing error.

John Mora also contributed an RBI single in the 5th to make it 5-0. Wuilmer Becerra has looked good since his return from his shoulder injury, today he went 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Injury Note: St. Lucie Mets activated LHP Ben Griset from the temporarily inactive list. LHP Paul Paez was sent to Brooklyn to make room on the roster.

Greenville 5, Columbia 1 (10-8) Box Score

Joe Shaw came back down to earth today, after having two great starts on the season. He pitched four innings, giving up 3 runs on seven hits while striking out five batters and walking one. Craig Missigman came in after that and continued his struggles, pitching two and two thirds innings, while giving up three runs. The encouraging sign is the strikeout ability, he totaled five on the day.

The Fireflies bats were relatively quiet only scoring one run on seven hits. Center fielder Tucker Tharp led the offense going 1 for 4 with one RBI. Second baseman Vinny Siena collected two hits and now has reached base safely in all 18 games this year. Milton Ramos also had a double and came around to score on Tharp RBI hit.

Our own Jennifer Nieves was at the Las Vegas 51s game and will provide her own recap of that outcome.

Injury Note: Seth Lugo was placed on the 7-day disabled list last night to make room on the 51s roster for Rafael Montero.
