Oklahoma City Dodgers 1, Las Vegas 51s (18-17) 0
The 51s couldn’t snap the scoreless innings streak from Dodgers prospect Julio Urias as he got his streak up to 22 innings. The 51s dropped the series opener against the Oklahoma City Dodgers 1-0.
Rafael Montero was outstanding matching Urias with six scoreless innings allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out seven. He hasn’t allowed a run over his last two starts which spans 11.2 innings. He lowered his season ERA to 3.94. He didn’t allow his first hit until the fifth inning and was hitting 93/94 MPH consistently on the night.
Josh Edgin followed with another scoreless frame, he has not allowed a run in his last since his first outing on April 10th. He has allowed only three hits in nine innings with 13 strikeouts in the minors.
Jeff Walters allowed a solo shot to Jack Murphy in the bottom of the eighth for the only run of the game.
Las Vegas threatened in the ninth with one-out singles from T.J. Rivera and Johnny Monell but Travis Taijeron lined out and Matt Reynolds struck out to end the game.
The 51s got seven hits but only one extra base hit, a double from Roger Bernadina. Monell had the only multi-hit day for the 51s going 2 for 4. Dilson Herrera was 1 for 4 and was caught stealing, he has 14 hits over his last nine games.
Injury Note – Gavin Cecchini remains on the disabled list with a sore back and could be sidelined until Tuesday.
Portland Sea Dogs 13, Binghamton Mets (14-19) 2 Game One
The Binghamton Mets lost the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday 13-2 after seven innings. It was their eighth loss in a row. Rainy Lara got the start for Binghamton in his return from the disabled list and he got hit hard. Henry Ramos hit a lead off home run against Lara. He went on to give up five runs in the first. A RBI single by the Portland RF Rainel Rosario, followed by a bases clearing double from catcher Ali Solis.
In the second, Lara allowed another home run to the lead off hitter Ramos. Nate Freiman added a sac fly to close the book on Lara. He went just 1.1 innings allowing seven runs on eight hits. He dropped to 2-4 with a 5.28 ERA on the season.
In the third Matt Oberste drove in Derrik Gibson with a RBI double to make it 7-1. It was his 9th double of the year.
David Roseboom who came in relief of Lara allowed a two-run homerun to Ali Solis. It was Solis his first homerun of the year to give the Sea Dogs a 9-1 lead. Roseboom allowed two runs in 1.2 innings in relief. His ERA raised to 4.15. Mike Hepple struggled also out of the pen. He walked four in two innings allowing two hits and four runs. His ERA raised to 4.11 as he gave up runs in his second straight outing. Logan Taylor allowed three inherited runners to score in his inning of work.
In the 7th, Stefan Sabol crushed a ball over the Maine Monster for his first homerun in Double-A. One of the few positives in this game.
Binghamton Mets (15-19) 7 Portland Sea Dogs 3 Game Two
Binghamton snapped their eight-game losing streak by defeating the Portland Sea Dogs in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday. Tyler Pill got the start and went the full seven innings for his third win. He improved to 3-3 with seven innings of three-run ball. He allowed six hits and two walks, while striking out just one.
Dominic Smith opened the scoring in the first with a RBI single that drove home Derrik Gibson. Smith added two more runs with his fourth homerun of the year, a shot to dead center field that had 101 MPH exit velocity. Smith went 2-3 with a walk and those three runs batted in. He has 27 runs batted on the season which is second in the Eastern League.
Kyle Johnson hit his first homerun of the year in the fifth giving Pill a much needed insurrance run. Tyler Pill allowed his three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Left Fielder Derek Miller hit a RBI single and Center Fielder Cole Sturgeon hit a bomb for a two run homerun. His first of the season.
Binghamton added three runs in the sixth with some help from the SeaDogs defense. An error from the pitcher Nik Turley scored the first run of the sixth. Phillip Evans later singled in a run with two outs scoring L.J. Mazzilli. Evans went 2-3 on the day with that RBI. Jared King scored the seventh run on a wild pitch.

St Lucie Mets (20-15) 3, Fort Myers Miracle 2 F/11
The St. Lucie Mets won the second game of the series against the Fort Myers Miracle 3-2. Michael Katz hit the walk-off RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the eleventh scoring Wuilmer Becerra. Katz went 2-5 in the win.
The Miracle opened the score against Chris Flexen in the first on a Chris Paul RBI single. John Mora gave St Lucie the lead in the second with a two-run home run, his first homer of the season. Paul drove in the tying run in the third with a double and his second RBI.

Flexen went just four innings allowing two runs on five hits. He walked three and stuck out two. The St. Lucie bullpen was absolutely great combining for seven scoreless innings.
Kevin McGowan pitched three scoreless innings allowing just one baserunner, while striking out three. He lowered his ERA to 1.37. Tim Peterson was outstanding again, he has not allowed a run in nine of ten outings. He pitched two scoreless innings allowing one hit, while striking out four. He has a 0.55 ERA in 16.1 innings this season.
Alberto Baldonado followed with a scoreless tenth striking out two and Jimmy Duff got his second win with a scoreless eleventh.
Asheville Tourists 3, Colombia Fireflies (18-17) 2
The Fireflies lost their third in a row against the Asheville Tourist 3-2. The Fireflies comeback in the ninth came short, scoring two in the ninth but ultimately fell short.
The Tourist opened the scoring in the second on a Josh Fuentes sac fly. They added another run in the third on a Brian Mundell RBI triple. In the sixth Tyler Badamo made a throwing error on a sac bunt by Max George.
Badamo went seven innings allowing three runs on eight hits, he dropped to 1-3 on the year with a 4.04 ERA. Seth Davis and Tyler Bashlor pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Bashlor now has a 1.20 ERA with 20 strike outs in 15 innings.
The Fireflies came close in the ninth scoring two and they had runners on first and second with one out but Kevin Kaczmarski struck out and Vinny Siena grounded out to end the game. Ivan Wilson drove in the first Fireflies run with a RBI Double and Jose Garcia followed with a RBI single.
JC Rodriguez went 3-4 in the loss. Jose Garcia and Milton Ramos both had two hits as the Fireflies had eleven hits but just scored two runs. Ramos is now 8 for 20 with five RBI in his last six games.
