Mets minor league teams collective record this year is not the best. I know that’s not very important, but they lose…a lot.
Here’s a question. If we fill 2nd base internally in 17….who will it be?
Cecchini…or Herrera? Study their numbers. Cecchini never strikes out…gets on base much more than Dilson…and is not just a singles hitter. Herrera…has much more power.
Dilson is not a standout defensively….and Cecchini has had major issues with his throwing at SS. With Rosario ready to step in at SS in 18…if not mid 17….Cecchini moving over to 2nd makes sense. His game may translate to the major leagues….better than Herrera’s.
Curious as to what others think.
I think Cecchini is not with the organization in 17.
If he is though I agree that he is in the competition at second with Herrera . Along with a veteran or two brought on ST invites.
For three years I ragged on Tejada mercilessly. He was a scrub in a prime role. However, I’m not happy seeing his misfortune and how far he has fallen. Hopefully he can continue a MLB career, but his play makes him 25th man on most teams and they usually put rookies there, unless they’re the Mets. I hope he has saved some money and hopefully he can learn to become a 100% line drive hitter that gets rid of that uppercut. It’s the only hope he has.
Agree on all parts, though I do think he will find a role next spring above the 25th man. If only because he plays SS
Beccera has been a major disappointment this season. I understand the shoulder injury but if it’s limiting him as much as his numbers and DH’ing suggest, he should be rehabbing.
Slugging is not where I would like, but he is putting the bat on the ball.
Can Ceech play 3rd. The throws are a bit easier and he’ll have less chances. I’m sure it’ll they’ll out his arm in the bigs so he can return to short. But the Mets can use his bat.
