As soon as the AAA season ends, Chech, Nimmo, Sewald, and Rivera should be on the first plane to NY. We could really use those guys. Shaw did a nice job in his spot start, considering he’s skipping two levels. I know the ERA was high this year, but K and BB rates are really nice. I remember hearing that he was likely a bullpen guy and he was a bit old for the level, but I find him interesting regardless.
It’s about time Cecchini saw game action at 2B.
He has no Mets future at SS.
I don’t see him losing trade value showing he can play 2B
Mets can’t rely on walker going forward (unfortunately)
I can go on……….
Agreed on those four guys but I have a feeling Mets won’t use Sewald unfortunately.
Watched Shaw last night, definitely has a prototypical starters body but I just don’t see starter stuff yet. He’s done well considering this is first year at starting. I think he’s definitely one of the most interesting “non” prospect arms the Mets have.
should have started happening the day after Dilson was traded. One game at ss one at 2b and so on. but the mets….
I agree with Nimmo and Rivera, but IMO the others coming up are going to be Goeddel, Edgin and Matt Reynolds.
I always root for homegrown players and I have a soft spot for Gavin.
I hope he is the starting 2B next year. I know its unlikely , but I would much rather us keep Cespedes and save money by using Gavin at 2B instead of pursuing Walker.
I think it’s reasonable to think like you mentioned that not spending on Walker could make it more likely that Cespedes is back. Also meaning some combo of Flores/Johnson/Cecchini at 2B next year.
He’s been working before games with Kevin Morgan at second base. I think it was also important to keep him at SS with Cabrera banged up.
You know more than I do, so I hope you’re right.
