AAA: Buffalo Bisons (55-35) 3, Syracuse Mets (36-55) 1

Box Score

Besides an RBI single from Wilfredo Tovar in the fifth, there wasn’t much going for the Syracuse offense in a 3-1 loss to Buffalo on Friday night. Tovar accounted for two of Syracuse’s five hits with his first hit coming in the form of a single in the first.

The Mets also seemed to struggle against the Bison pitching staff as they struck out 10 times. Josh Reddick had a tough in particular at the plate as he struck out in three of his four at-bats.

Syracuse pitching didn’t fare much better than the hitting as it recorded just four strikeouts on the night. Starter Josh Walker had a tough outing as he allowed three runs on six hits in his six innings of work.

However, the Mets bullpen put together a nice performance as three pitchers combined to allow just one hit and no runs in the game’s final three innings.

AA: Portland Sea Dogs (55-36) 5, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (41-50) 1

Box Score

Two multi-hit performances from Brett Baty and Hayden Senger wasn’t enough for the Rumble Ponies as they fell 5-1 to the Sea Dogs. Binghamton’s lone run came from a Carlos Rincon solo home run in the fourth.

The Ponies struggled to create scoring chances in the game as they only totaled four runners in scoring position on Friday night.

There wasn’t much going for the Binghamton pitching staff either as it gave up nine hits on the night. Starter Justin Lasko took the loss as he allowed three runs on six hits in his four innings on the mound.

Reliever Tommy Wilson also gave up a 2-RBI single in the seventh to allow another two runs for Portland.

A+: Hudson Valley Renegades (59-35) 3, Brooklyn Cyclones (35-57) 1

Box Score

The Brooklyn offense had a nice night at the plate as it compiled 11 hits but couldn’t capitalize on opportunities as the Cyclones lost 3-1 to the Renegades. The Cyclones had three players finish the night with multiple hits, which included Antoine Duplantis, Jose Peroza and Zach Ashford.

Every hitter in the lineup recorded a base hit except top-prospect Francisco Álvarez who went 0-for-4. Jaylen Palmer knocked in Brooklyn’s lone run of the night with an RBI double in the seventh to avoid a shutout.

Starter Alec Kisena put together a fairly decent performance as he struck out eight batters but couldn’t hold the flood gates closed as he gave up two runs in the fifth. However, reliever Michel Otanez impressed in his one inning of play with two strikeouts with no allowed hits or runs.

A: Tampa Tarpons (62-29) 8, St. Lucie Mets (49-42) 4

Box Score

Despite an impressive four-run fourth inning, St. Lucie couldn’t maintain its lead as it fell to Tampa by a score of 8-4. The productive fourth was contributed to by a Kevin Kendall home run, a Warren Saunders 2-RBI double and a Matt O’Neill sac fly.

Only three Mets recorded a hit on Friday night as the St. Lucie offense struck out 12 times at the plate.

Starter Oscar Rojas had a rough night on the mound as he allowed eight runs on seven hits in his 4.2 innings of work. Most of the damage came in the fifth where the Tarpons scored six runs to reclaim the lead. Relievers Austin Faith and Drake Nightengale closed out the game allowing no runs with Faith allowing just one hit.

Rookie: FCL Mets (20-16) 7, FCL Marlins (16-17) 4

Box Score

Righty Jordan Yamamoto started his first rehab assignment at the Rookie League level on Friday with one inning on the mound. Yamamoto allowed just one hit and gave up no walks in his first appearance since May 23.

Foreign Rookie: DSL Phillies Red (13-13) 8, DSL Mets1 (14-14) 5

Box Score

  • Kevin Villavicencio, SS: 2-for-4, R, 2 RBI, .308/.393/.423
  • Nicolandy Meija, RHP: 1.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, ER, BB, K, 6.00 ERA
