AAA: Syracuse Mets (34-54) 6, Worcester Red Sox (46-42) 1  Box Score

Just one day after his return to the Syracuse lineup for the first time since early June, Thompson was integral to Syracuse’s victory on Sunday afternoon as he knocked in four of the team’s six runs. Prior to his injury, Thompson was having the best season of his career, with his .944 OPS through 35 games a significant improvement over his .722 career mark. Reddick continues to hit well since joining the Mets organization last week; he has recorded a hit in each of the four games he has played with Syracuse. Lee’s hit-by-pitch extends his on-base streak to 13 games.

Reyes continued his very strong recent run of pitching with his six shutout innings on Sunday. Over his last four appearances, Reyes has given up just two earned runs in 21.0 innings pitched, lowering his season ERA from 6.75 to 5.44. Bostick has pitched solely in relief since his brief appearance with the major league team and has a 1.35 ERA since then.

AA: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (40-48) 4, Hartford Yard Goats (29-60) 3  Box Score

  • Brett Baty 3B: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 K, SB, .260/.342/.452
  • Luis Carpio SS: 2-for-4, 2 R, 2B, K, .247/.319/.378
  • Yoel Romero 2B: 1-for-2, R, 2B, RBI, 2 BB, .275/.348/.401

Hits by Romero and Baty drove in three runs in the third inning, but the Rumble Ponies’ offense was otherwise held in check until the 10th inning of this game. In the 10th inning, Jake Mangum would hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to win the game for Binghamton. After some early growing pains, Baty appears to have fully adjusted to the increased difficulty of Double-A and is now hitting .333/.411/.563 for the month. Mark Vientos remains out of the lineup due to “health and safety protocols.”

It has been a rough season for De La Cruz, but he put forth his best start of the year in Sunday’s game, tying a season-low with one earned run and nearly doubling his previous season-high with six strikeouts. Zanghi would blow the two run lead he was given in the seventh inning. Ragan’s ERA looks terrible due to one nightmarish outing in which he gave up seven runs in one inning, but he has not given up a run in his other four outings since his promotion to Binghamton.

A+: Wilmington Blue Rocks (39-51) 12, Brooklyn Cyclones (34-54) 5  Box Score

The Cyclones were blown out in this game, but Alvarez had a big afternoon. The home run he hit was his 17th of the year; he is 14th in the league in home runs despite spending much of the first month of the season in St. Lucie. His power has been especially apparent in August, as he is hitting .268/.320/.659 with four home runs for the month. Jose Martinez continued to progress through his rehab, moving from St. Lucie to Brooklyn, playing seven innings in right field, and walking once in four plate appearances.

  • RHP David Griffin (0-0, 6.75 ERA) 3.0 IP, 5 R, 3 R, ER, BB, 4 K
  • RHP Hunter Parsons (L, 1-1, 6.39 ERA) 0.0 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 2 BB
  • RHP Josh Hejka (2-1, 3.67 ERA) 2.0 IP, 4 H, ER, BB, 2 K

There’s not much good to say about Brooklyn’s pitching in Sunday’s game. Five pitchers combined to allow 12 runners and allow 21 runners to reach base (not including errors). Evy Ruibal was the only pitcher used in the game to not allow a run.
