Mets’ top prospect Francisco Alvarez did it again on Thursday, it was the eighth time he’s homered in his last 12 games!

AAA: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (20-36) 12, Syracuse Mets (20-35) 4 Box Score

  • SS JT Riddle: 1-for-3, HR (4), 2 RBI, BB, SO, .200/.243/.371
  • CF Matt Rudick: 2-for-5, 2B, 2 R, SO, .191/.345/.298
  • DH Daniel Palka: 1-for-3, RBI, R, BB, SO, .241/.342/.471

The Mets took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Daniel Palka RBI single, but they found themselves chasing the game from there and were unable to ever bring it close, snapping a modest three-game winning streak. JT Riddle launched his first home run as a member of the Mets organization and his fourth homer of the season. Matt Rudick finally played consecutive games at the same level after playing for three different affiliates in three days, and he ended up scoring two of the team’s four runs on the night.

Mike Montgomery fell apart in the second inning, surrendering four doubles and a home run in a seven-hit inning that knocked him out of the game early. The bullpen did what they could to hold it together but still gave up six more runs across the final 7 1/3 innings of work. Joe Zanghi went two scoreless to close out the game and was the only pitcher to appear for the Mets while not allowing any runs to score, but the game was done and dusted by then.

AA: New Hampshire Fisher Cats (25-28) 9, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (20-33) 5 Box Score

The top three prospects in the organization all had significant contributions on Thursday night for the Rumble Ponies, but it was still not enough for them to secure a victory. Francisco Álvarez is hotter than the surface of the sun at the moment, as he has now homered in three straight games and has gone yard eight times in the past 12 games. In that span, he has raised his season OPS from .719 to .881, a mark that comfortably leads the team. Ronny Mauricio contributed a two-run double, and Brett Baty reached base four times, coming around to score twice.

José Chacin pitched the Mets out of the game before they even got a chance to bat, as he gave up seven runs in less than an inning on the mound. He allowed six of the first batters he faced to reach base, and he was pulled after surrendering a two-run homer to put the Rumble Ponies in an early 7-0 hole. Willy Taveras did an excellent job of shutting the opposing offense down across four innings given the circumstances. Former member of the Mets’ 40-man roster Jordan Yamamoto has pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings across two appearances at the Double-A level.

A+: Aberdeen IronBirds (37-16) 6, Brooklyn Cyclones (22-30) 1 Box Score

The Cyclones offense managed to collect nine hits, but they were only able to push a single run across as they dropped their fifth straight game. That run came courtesy of a Brandon McIlwain RBI triple, and he recorded two triples on the night to bring his season total to five. Warren Saunders had three hits including two doubles while JT Schwartz contributed two hits of his own, but the offense combined to leave 19 runners on base.

Junior Santos ended up being tabbed with a very tough-luck loss, as he did a fantastic job limiting one of the best offenses at the Single-A level to just one earned run across six innings. The bullpen arms did not do him any favors, as Nolan Clenney allowed three runs to score in the seventh inning and Reyson Santos walked three batters in less than an inning of work.

A: St. Lucie Mets (36-17) 8, Jupiter Hammerheads (27-25) 3 Box Score

The Mets have won six of seven games in June, and the offensive performance was as electric as ever on Thursday. While Omar De Los Santos did collect four stolen bases, he also has 21 extra-base hits this season, proving that he is way more than just a speed threat. Alex Ramirez and Justin Guerrera each had hits that plated two runs in a five-run sixth inning that broke the game open.

Saúl González was making his first start of the season, and although he only got through three innings, he only allowed a single run and left the game with the Mets in the lead. Raimon Gómez pitched the next two innings, recording four of his six outs via the strikeout and earning a win for his efforts. Jace Beck pitched a clean ninth inning in his first game action at the Single-A level this year.

Complex League: FCL Mets (2-1) 6, FCL Nationals (2-1) 2 Box Score

Hector Rodríguez had three of the team’s seven hits out of the leadoff spot, and Eduardo Salazar launched his first home run of the season.

Dominican League: DSL NYY Yankees (1-2) 6, DSL Mets2 (1-2) 7 Box Score

Willy Fanas drove in two runs with a single in the fifth inning and has three RBI in his first three games. The Mets won it late with six runs in the fifth and the game-winning run in the sixth.

Dominican League: DSL Mets1 (2-1) 19, DSL NYY Bombers (1-2) 16, F/11 Box Score

Simon Juan had a rough night at the dish, going hitless in all seven of his at-bats despite his team scoring 19 runs. The Mets tied the game in the ninth inning with two runs and then scored five runs in the top of the 11th to secure the win.
