AAA – Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders  (4-1) 3, Syracuse Mets (1-4) 4 BOX SCORE

Syracuse finally got a win on the board with a little luck – a game-deciding fielding error in the 10th inning by Railriders left-fielder Ryan LaMarre that scored Quinn Brodey. Offensively, the Mets somehow scored four runs on only three hits. One of those three hits was a Travis Blankenhorn home run to right field in the first inning to kick off the Mets’ scoring attack.

Matt Reynolds knocked in the second run for the Mets on a sacrifice fly to center field in the second inning that scored Mark Vientos. Reynolds also walked twice last night. Finally, Nick Meyer had a hit in the fifth inning and scored the third run on a passed ball.

Connor Grey started this game for the Mets, getting out of trouble in the first inning and cruising through the second and third innings. However, in the fourth inning, Grey allowed RBI singles by Jose Peraza and Tim Locastro. Colin Holderman blew the save opportunity in the top of the ninth inning by allowing a single to Oswald Peraza. Anthony Vizcaya pitched a scoreless 10th inning to secure the win for the Mets.

AA: Hartford Yard Goats (1-1) 13, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-1) 2 BOX SCORE

The Rumble Ponies scored two runs on eight hits. Francisco Álvarez had a home run in the eighth inning off Dugan Darnell in addition to a single. Later in the eighth inning, Luke Ritter had an RBI double that scored Brett Baty.

The Hartford Yard Goats had an explosive day at the plate, including an eight run third inning. Marcel Rentería was pulled in the third after allowing eight earned runs and Justin Lasko was not much more effective at slowing down the Hartford offense. On the bright side, Joe Zanghi and Michel Otanez pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth inning respectively.

A+ – Game 1: Wilmington Blue Rocks(1-0) 5, Brooklyn Cyclones (0-1) 1 BOX SCORE

The Brooklyn Cyclones offense was somewhat quiet in game one, with the only run in the shortened game (seven innings total) coming off a Jose Peroza RBI single that scored Wilmer Reyes in the first inning. Additionally, Rowdey Jordan got on base twice with a double in the first inning and a walk.

Junior Santos started the game for the Cyclones, pitching two innings and allowing three earned runs. Santos struggled with his command, walking four batters in his two-inning start. Josh Hejka followed Santos with a scoreless inning that included two hits allowed and two strikeouts. Jesus Vargas finished the final three innings while allowing two earned runs in the process.

A+ – Game 2: Brooklyn Cyclones (1-1) 2, Wilmington Blue Rocks(1-1) 1 BOX SCORE

  • Rowdey Jordan  LF: 1-3, 2 RBI
  • Wilmer Reyes 2B: 1-3
  • Jose Peroza 3B: 1-3

Rowdey Jordan had another productive game for the Cyclones, hitting a triple in the fifth inning that scored Nic Gaddis and Joe Suozzi. Those two runs would be enough to earn Brooklyn their first victory of the season. Wilmer Reyes and Jose Peroza also had hits in this game.

Jose Chacin had a great start for the Cyclones with four scoreless innings and seven strikeouts. David Griffin added to Chacin’s success with a scoreless fifth inning and Justin Courtney saved the game to secure the win despite allowing an earned run in the seventh.

A: St. Lucie Mets (2-0) 7, Daytona Tortugas (0-2) 2 BOX SCORE

The Mets had a strong game at the plate last night led by Carlos Dominguez. Dominguez hit a grand slam in the sixth inning off Reynardo Cruz that broke the game open for St. Lucie. Additionally, Newton and Guerrera each added a double and a single.

Mike Vasil made his season debut for St. Lucie and did not disappoint. Vasil pitched four scoreless innings and recorded six strikeouts. Additionally, his fastball reached 97 MPH. Daniel Juarez pitched the next two innings without any runs to earn the win for the contest.
