Garrison Bryant (Jacob Resnick/Mets Minors)

Durham (64-50) 5, Syracuse (57-57) 0 Box Score

Dilson is back in the lineup. The toy cannon was out the last couple of days after fouling a ball of his shin. The Mets really ought to be considering calling him up some point soon, right? Just hope something sticks until it finally does. Tejada had a hit but he had cooled off a little since his torrid start. Other than that, the Syracuse team had a bad night of offense.

Not a great start for Santana who might have been making this start in New York had things gone differently at the deadline. Pounders has really struggled in Syracuse after having a lot of success in Columbus.

Columbia (44-67) 5, Hagerstown (50-64) 3 Box Score

There was no Mark Vientos tonight so the lineup had a lot of late 2018 draftees. Mauricio continues to shine though. He is OPSing right around .700 as one of the youngest guys in the league. He’s hitting .333 over his last 10 games. His skillset is off the charts and there is plenty of time to figure things out. But there is a very clear reason why he took over the number one spot on the Mets prospect list.

  • RHP Daison Acosta (2-2, 2.68 ERA): 5 IP, 3 H, ER, 3 BB, K
  • RHP Willy Tavares (5-10, 5.33 ERA): 2 IP, 3 H, ER, 3 K
  • LHP Jake Simon (0-0, 4.40 ERA): 0.2 IP, ER, 2 BB
  • RHP Allan Winans (1-1, 2.65 ERA): 2.1 IP, BB, K

Acosta was not a big signee but he is one of my favorite prospects this year. His BB-to-K ratio was off the charts in Brooklyn but they have come down to Earth in Columbia. That said, he has still managed to find a way to get it done in his new challenge. Once he cleans up his mechanics, his velocity should increase too. Tavares is interesting because he’s had success before but now it looks like he is a pen arm.

Brooklyn (28-22) 2, Hudson Valley (28-21) 1 Box Score

A prospect named Wilmer Reyes? He was destined to be a Met. He has easily been Brooklyn’s best hitter though. They are a scrappy bunch. Down one in the ninth, Gavin Garay and Jake Ortega singled to lead off the ninth. Mangum tied the game and Antoine Duplantis walked it off.

Bryant has been sharp in Brooklyn this year. They gave him a small stint in Columbia so perhaps that is something they try out again soon. Hejka and Parsons are new to the organization. Parsons was picked out of Maryland and Hejka was un-drafted out of Johns Hopkins.

Kingsport (22-24) 9, Elizabethton (23-23) 8 Box Score

Kingsport walked off in the ninth too. Wilfred Astudillo singled and a pinch runner scored on Cole Kleszcz‘s double. Dirocie walked it off with a RBI single. Dirocie has nice power and is athletic but has virtually his hit tool keeps falling short. He’s had trouble in two straight stints with Brooklyn. Palmer is a great athlete and made the top 30 list. Flashes terrific bat speed and plus raw power. Regnault is a big dude who has followed up a monster 2018 with a solid year in the power department.

Garcia is probably the most interesting out of all these guys. He is still pretty young and the Mets gave him a fairly aggressive promotion. He does have more strikeouts than innings pitched so he might be someone worth monitoring. The Mets obviously like him enough to skip him a few levels.

GCL Mets (19-15) 5, GCL Marlins (19-14) 4 Box Score

Ashford has been much better in the GCL. The sixth rounder struggled in his cup of coffee in Brooklyn but has a .400+ OBP in the GCL. Perhaps they should compromise and send him to Kingsport. Lugo fits the mold of athletic shortstops the Mets have been getting later in the drafts or for cheaper in the IFA. The numbers are not there yet for Lugo though.

Parra is an interesting one. He has shown great control at times but also has had starts like this. The lefty is still having a solid first year in the pros. The Mets are clearly making an attempt to limit his innings early in his career. Perhaps they plan on sending him to Brooklyn in their stretch run for the playoffs.

DSL Mets2 (26-30) 11, DSL Brewers (30-25) 4 Box Score

De Los Santos looks intriguing. He has shown off some home run pop but also has the ability to steal some bases. One of the older signees from last year.

Marcano got a big bonus a few years back and looks like he has finally found his stride. He only walked one yesterday which is a good sign. His strikeouts have also gone up his last few starts.

DSL Mets1 (26-23) 3, DSL Phillies (35-14) 1 Box Score

Cooled off a little since his red-hot start. Still has tremendous potential at the plate.
