Rochester (66-65), Syracuse (68-62) 2   Box Score

Taijeron has had an uninspiring August after mashing a monster July. Lee has recorded multiple hits in each of the last three games he’s started. The Mets offense didn’t do much, scoring their lone runs in the sixth and seventh innings after the game was already out of reach.

Santana’s last four starts have been rough, as he has given up 24 runs (22 earned) in 20.1 innings, raising his ERA from 3.99 to 5.66. His recent performances are not exactly helping his case to be used as a spot starter in case the Mets need him. Rumbelow’s first appearance for the Mets organization was successful, as he looks to rebound from an ugly season with Tacoma.

Binghamton (62-68) 4, New Hampshire (60-71) 2   Box Score

Despite getting only five hits, Binghamton won in large part because of Gimenez’s two-run homer. It was just his second home run of the month, and eighth of the year. He has still gone back to struggling overall in the month of August after a very solid July.

  • LHP David Peterson (3-6, 4.45 ERA): 5.1 IP, 6 H 2 R, 0 BB, 4 K
  • RHP Ryder Ryan (W, 3-1, 3.19 ERA): 2.2 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K
  • RHP Adonis Uceta (5-3, 1.52 ERA): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K

Peterson bounced back solidly from a rough start in which he gave up seven runs in 2.2 innings. Ryan has been on a roll, and has actually been quietly dominant since June. Through 11 innings thus far in August, he owns a 0.82 ERA. Uceta has also been pitching great, lowering his ERA to 1.52 as he has thrown 14.2 consecutive scoreless innings.

Jupiter (52-75) 5, St. Lucie (67-62) 0   Box Score

Lowrie played the field for the first time since May 11. He played second base, collecting a hit and playing four innings before being taken out for the fifth. St. Lucie was shut out as Cortes recorded the team’s only extra base hit.

Megill bounced back from a rare zero-strikeout performance, striking out seven in five solid innings. He has struck out an impressive 83 in 66.2 innings.

Rome (61-69) 4, Columbia (51-76) 3   Box Score

While he had a solid afternoon on Saturday, Mauricio has still been slumping in the month of August with just a .206/.247/.250 batting line. Vientos has had a great August, batting .319/.373/.532, but he was pulled from the game for Shervyen Newton for apparently making an immature baserunning miscue.

Lasko took the loss for allowing an inherited run to tie the game, and a run of his own doing to give the Braves the lead. He has still been really solid this year, posting a 1.59 ERA and .194 opponents batting average between Brooklyn and Columbia.

Connecticut (32-35) 6, Brooklyn (37-29) 5   Box Score

Peroza hit his fourth home run with Brooklyn, and his 10th of the year overall. While his bat has slowed since coming stateside, his power breakout this year has still been impressive to see.

  • RHP Nathan Jones (0-1, 2.77 ERA): 3.0 IP, H, 2 R, BB, 3 K
  • RHP Corey Gaconi (4-1, 3.62 ERA): 3.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
  • RHP Nelson Leon (3-1, 2.70 ERA): 1.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Matt Mullenbach (L, 1-3, 2.42 ERA): 1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 0 K

Gaconi has rebounded from giving up a season-high five runs on August 14, having thrown six innings and allowed no runs with eight strikeouts and no walks over his last two appearances. Mullenbach has allowed a run in two of his last three outings after his ERA reached as low as 1.50.

Kingsport (32-32) 9, Bluefield (30-33) 2   Box Score

Baty, who’s. struggled in Kingsport overall but has been turning it on as of late, had his six-game hitting streak halted, although he increased his impressive walk rate. The strong 17-year-old catcher Alvarez had his second multi-homer game in his last three games. While he hasn’t lit up the league like he did in the GCL, Alvarez has still been really good for Kingsport. Pujols, Scott Ota, and Tanner Murphy all homered in the win, which was fueled by a seven-run sixth inning.

German has thrived since transitioning to the rotation, allowing two earned runs or fewer in all six of his starts. He has also gone six innings in each of his last three starts. Santos walked two but worked out of it to record the final out. He has struck out 27 in 20 innings this year.

GCL Mets (27-23) 8, GCL Cardinals (20-31) 5   Box Score

Ashford recorded a hit for the fifth straight game, and has an .870 OPS with the GCL Mets since struggling with the Cyclones. O’Neill hasn’t done much else besides get on base, but he hit his first professional home run on Saturday to lead the Mets to an 8-5 win.

  • RHP Josh Wolf (0-1, 3.38 ERA): 2.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K
  • RHP Matthew Allan (W, 1-0, 1.08 ERA): 2.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
  • RHP Joshua Cornielly (3-2, 4.54 ERA): 3.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 0 ER, BB, 5 K
  • RHP Jace Beck (0-0, 2.57 ERA): 2.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, K

The Mets’ 2019 second and third round draft picks both impressed, and are both off to strong starts in their young professional careers. Wolf has struck out 12 and walked just one in 12 innings, while Allan has struck out 11 and allowed only one run in 8.1 innings, while limiting the opposition to a .167 average.

DSL Mets1 (34-30) 4, DSL Nationals (22-42) 2   Box Score

Cabrera had hit a bit of a skid, with his two-hit performance breaking a string of four consecutive hitless games. Castro’s bat has been coming around a little bit, with a .758 OPS in August after posting a .684 OPS in June and a .559 OPS in July.

Valencia had his second straight start of five scoreless innings, and has only allowed one run in 15 innings over his last four appearances. He’s rebounded very nicely from a dreadful June, posting a 1.84 ERA in July and 1.77 in August.

DSL Mets2 (33-38) 5, DSL Tigers (28-43) 3   Box Score

Rivera has been on fire, as he extended his hitting streak to 11 games. In the month of August, he’s batting .345/.448/.618.

Ramirez rebounded from two so-so starts with five scoreless innings. He has 69 strikeouts in 56.1 innings this year, with an impressive .195 opponents batting average.
