Syracuse (15-9) 7, Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs (16-7) 4 Box Score

Carlos Gomez has heated up the last few days, recording at least a hit in three out of the last four games. He’s managed to raise his average from .197 to .228 in that small span. Hechavarria is hitting .410 over his last 10 games. He is trying to dethrone Luis Guillorme as the standby shortstop. Dilson has cooled off recently and his strikeouts have gone up too so yesterday a good sign of him rebounding.

Coleman continues to switch between shorter stints and long relief. He has shown good stuff so he could be a candidate to make a trip to Queens soon. Rhame has struck out a lot of guys but also had problems with letting guys get on base. Bashlor has been pretty good since his bad outing earlier in the season. Caminero continues to be good in the closer role.

Akron (12-12) 9, Binghamton (10-8) 5 Box Score

Will Toffey has been hitting .333 his last 10 games with 10 walks to eight strikeouts. He has a great eye at the plate and his OBP continues to rise as his BA continues to stabilize. He seems like something interesting that the Mets got at the deadline last year. He’ll be Syracuse bound fairly soon.

  • LHP David Peterson (1-2, 7.31 ERA): 1.2 IP, 6 H, 7 ER, 3 BB, K
  • RHP Joshua Torres (1-0, 6.75 ERA): 2.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, BB, K
  • RHP Stephen Villines (0-0, 0.00 ERA): 2 IP, H, 2 K
  • RHP Ryley Gilliam (0-0, 0.00 ERA): 1 IP, 3 K
  • RHP Adonis Uceta (0-1, 1.23 ERA) 2 IP, H

Peterson struggled mightily in this one. The damage occurred in both the first two innings. Unfortunately he could not build off his eight strikeout game from last time. Stephen Villines continues to shine. He has not given up a run this season, par for his minor league career. Gilliam faced three and struck out three in his Binghamton debut. Not bad for a first impression. Uceta has picked off from 2017 after an injury knocked out his 2018 season. He showed a lot of promise that season.
