AAA: Syracuse Mets (19-40) 9, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders (37-20) 8  Box Score

Despite striking out 14 times, the Mets offense had a strong afternoon as they put up nine runs on 11 hits. Mazeika and Drew Jackson both homered in the game, with Mazeika’s eighth inning blast giving the Mets the lead. The Railriders would tie the game in the ninth, but Williams would hit a game-winning RBI single in the 10th inning. Davis had four plate appearances as that designated hitter as he hopefully nears the end of his rehab.

Szapucki was pulled from the game after just three innings and 45 pitches (he threw 80 pitches in his last start 5 days ago). While he was not dominant, it is unlikely that he was pulled due to performance, but there is no report of possible injury yet. Banda struggled in his second appearance in the Mets organization and has generally had a very rough season.

Geoff Hartlieb tossed 1.2 innings in his organizational debut. Windle has walked more batters than he has struck out this season, but is keeping runs off the board by holding hitters to just a .078 batting average against.

AA: New Hampshire Fisher Cats (24-32) vs. Binghamton Rumble Ponies (22-35)

The Rumble Ponies’ game against New Hampshire on Sunday was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader in New Hampshire during their series beginning on August 24.

A+: Brooklyn Cyclones (19-39) 10, Hudson Valley Renegades (39-20) 3  Box Score

The Cyclones were without two of their top prospects in Sunday’s game, with Brett Baty and Francisco Alvarez both impressing at the Futures Game. However, the lineup managed just fine without them, slugging four home runs on their way to a blowout victory. Duplantis doubled his career home run total by the third inning of this game: he entered the day with two career home runs before homering in his first two at bats. He is now hitting .333/.357/.538 for the month of July.

Mauricio has struggled since returning from the injured list last week, so hopefully this multi-hit game is a step in the right direction. He also stole his sixth base of the season, which ties his career high.

Kisena was uncharacteristically wild in Sunday’s game, walking a career-high five batters, but was able to limit the damage to just a single run. Hejka pitched three perfect innings in relief to keep the Cyclones in the lead while the game was still somewhat close.

A: Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (34-26) 13, St. Lucie (31-29) 9  Box Score

It was a big day for the Mets’ offense, as they pushed across nine runs on 15 hits, but it was not quite enough to overcome a poor pitching performance. Palmer had a particularly huge day, recording the first five-hit game of his career (he had never had a four-hit game before Sunday either). After a strong end to June, he has continued to heat up in July and is now hitting .375/.432/.531 for the month.

Johneshwy Fargas made his fourth rehab appearance with St. Lucie, playing six innings in center field while going hitless in three plate appearances. Dyer continues to be a prototypical three true outcomes hitter, with 53.2% of his plate appearances ending in a walk, strikeout, or home run.

There is not much good to say about this pitching performance. Tavarez was perhaps the one lone bright spot, as he was the only pitcher not to allow multiple runs in Sunday’s game. Pitching in his first professional season, the hard-throwing righty has been electric but extraordinarily wild. In 15.1 innings pitched, Tavarez has struck out 25 batters while also walking 20.
