The 51s were not able to muster much offensively, which is not shocking given that their best player is in Miami for the futures game. Smith now has a hit in 23 of his last 24 games. He has a 1.189 OPS in the month of July. He has historically been a better second half hitter.

Boscan was very good in his start. Mateo still has problem with walks and baserunners. He was a very high end arm in the Mets system a while ago. Granted, the system was not very good then.

The Rumble Ponies only manufactured three runs in the game but that was more than enough for Corey Oswalt. Champ Stuart stole his 23rd base in the game. Luis Guillorme’s OBP is now .366 on the season. Problem is: his slugging percentage is .346.

Oswalt’s ERA second in the eastern league. His WHIP is good for sixth in the league. Oswalt has been phenomenal and has a good chance of being a starting pitcher on Tuesday’s all-star game.

St. Lucie Mets (38-46) 3, Jupiter Hammerheads (40-44) 2 Box Score

• Tim Tebow LF: 1 for 4, Run, RBI

Not much offense for St. Lucie but they were able to make it work. They used a three-run fourth led by the back of the lineup to get the win. Tim Tebow is now slashing .324/.432/.541 on the season for St. Lucie.

Merandy Gonzalez continues to pitch well for the St. Lucie Mets. His season on the whole was great and has continued that into the next level. Bashlor now has 55 strikeouts in 31.2 innings.

One to forget for Columbia. Gimenez is now 0 for 18 his last five games. Hopefully he comes out of it soon. He was hitting well right before this recent cold stretch. Zanon now has a .368 OBP this year for Columbia. He’s a toolsy outfielder who already has ten steals in 19 games.

Blake Taylor was coming off one of the best starts of his professional career followed by one of this worst ones. It is hard to predict baseball as they say. The Fireflies did a good job covering for him but it’s tough to win when your starter struggles the way he did.

Stajduhar, the 18th rounder from this years draft, had a big game. He has two home runs in eleven games already. He had 35 homers his final two years in college.

Ingram was a sixth rounder in 2015 and has pitched all over the minors this year. This was his first start of the year for Brooklyn. O’Neil was the seventh rounder from this year, he picked up the save.

The Cyclones only managed seven baserunners the whole game. Brodey has a .391 OBP in his first eleven games as a Cyclone.

Johnson struggled in this one. He has had an up and down season but this was his worst start. Chadwick meanwhile has been very good to begin his professional career.

The GCL Mets scored enough for the pitching staff. Moreno has been great thus far in the young year. He is hitting .455/.490/.568 this season which will naturally regress but definitely a good sign for the young hitter.

The staff was great in their game. They only allowed five baserunners the whole game and as a result, gave up no runs.

• Shervyen Newton SS: 2 for 4, Run, BB

Shervyen Newton continues to impress this season. He is slashing .324/.436/.444. He has 22 walks on the season compared to 24 Ks.

Butto continues his strong pitching. He’s mostly been a reliever but he’s worked in long relief and has accumulated a good amount of innings. The pitching staff combined to allow eight baserunners the whole game.

DSL Mets1 (20-11) 4, DSL Twins (24-6) 3 Box Score

The DSL Mets used a three-run seventh to propel them to victory. Espino had the big hit, a two-run triple.

The pitchers was solid overall but were hurt by their defense. As a whole, they only allowed three hits in the game and three walks.

The Kingsport offense did their job, scoring six runs in the game. Vasquez was the Mets 28th rounder in 2017. He has a great eye at the plate but there are concerns about his power. Terrazas and Lagrange are 21 year olds who have put up mediocre offensive numbers thus far in their careers.
