Szapucki struggled with his command as he left too many pitches over the heart of plate resulting in seven hits against him, including three extra base hits. It was the first time Szapucki has allowed more than two earned runs to score since his first start of the season in 2017 and only the third time in his entire career.

Elizabethton (24-23) 6, Kingsport (22-25) 3 Box Score

Kingsport only had five hits on the day but also had ten opportunities with runners in scoring position which they failed to convert in all but one. The usually dependable Escorcha had an off night taking his first loss the season.

GCL Mets (20-15) 3, GCL Nationals (15-19) 2 Box Score

The GCL team only had three hits on the day but two of them came with runners in scoring position as the they took advantage of three Nationals errors to score the three runs they needed to win.

  • RHP Zachary Hammer: 2.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 K, 3 BB | 0-1, 3.13 ERA, 1.30 WHIP
  • RHP Liam McCall: 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 K, 1 BB, Win | 2-0, 4.19 ERA, 1.40 WHIP

Hammer was wild but effective through his first two innings of work striking out three and walking three. He would run into trouble in his third inning, due to his own throwing error on a pick-off play, allowing back to back doubles after the misplay allowing two runs to score before being pulled. McCall would relieve him and left the remaining runner stranded at second. He would toss perfect innings in the sixth and seventh innings to earn his second win of the season.

GCL Nationals (16-19) 7, GCL Mets (20-16) 1 Box Score

The GCL Mets offense was just as quiet in the second game of the doubleheader as they could only muster four hits in the game.

Colina struggled with his command in this game uncorking two wild pitches and hitting a batter in addition to the three hits he allowed. The defense woes that plagued the Nationals in Game 1 transferred over the Mets in Game 2 as they committed four errors. 2019 Draftee Jace Beck made his debut for the Mets organization but was incredibly rusty as he had three wild pitches and allowed two hits in his inning of work.

DSL Mets1 (27-23) 5, DSL Twins (18-33) 4 Box Score

Down 4-1, the Mets rallied with five base hits in the bottom of the ninth inning to score four runs and steal a win from the Twins. Perez finished off the rally with a two run single to center to score Valdez and Bradly Encarnacion. Valdez also had a solo home run earlier in the game.

DSL Tigers2 (24-27) 2, DSL Mets2 (23-27) 1 Box Score

The DSL Mets2 had eleven hits on the day but they were all singles as the combination with their 1-for-6 performance with runners in scoring position and three runners cut down on the base-paths led to only one run scoring.
